Weekly Chit Chat 1/24 - 1/30 - Page 5

I bought my fleece lined hemp doublers at Babyworks. You're also allowed to return their products after washing them if you're dissatisfied.
So, do we still have a DDC? I'm confused as to how to refer to you ladies. So often I would tell DH about something going on with one of you and I would say..."so-and-so from my DDC....blah blah blah..."
^Heck yeah! We will always be our DDC. Even though the due dates have passed.
Thanks for the tip on GMD and Babyworks ladies! I will check them both out.

ps- I was just telling my husband that the DDC was closing and I started crying when I was telling him this. He thought it was cute.
I don't know why I am being so emotional over this.

Happy birthday Tara! I hope you get a sling for your birthday too. I think if you're not ready to leave Ally Rae, then don't. I didn't leave my high-needs DD for a really long time (I can't even remember the first time); DS1 was more easy-going and we left him at night for a few hours when he was 5 months old. I was a wreck, but it was really important to DH so I did it. My mom said he cried and cried; I did leave pumped milk, but he barely took any of it. I left it in a sippy cup as we don't do artificial nipples either (no bottles or pacis for any of them yet, and probably won't).

I love you all and your babies as well.

That would be a wonderful treat to meet IRL.
Ah geez, I feel so damned emotional over this. I know its just a forum on a website BUT somehow this is attached and tied up with my pregnancy and the whole experience. I know you all must feel the same. Letting this DDC go is like saying good bye to the pregnancy and that makes me deeply melancholic.
I am actually crying now...geez, what a sap I am huh?
Love to you all my DDC sisters.
Shine on and see you on FB and in LWAB!
I live down in San Diego so maybe we can meet up sometime. I was just in Irvine meeting my sister (who lives in LA) yesterday.

I'm also feeling sad about the DDC closing, even though I'm not one of the more prolific posters (3 kids has definitely cut down on my internet/alone time ). I think what you said about it like saying goodbye to the pg is really true for me. And since DH is adamant about not having any more kiddos, that is doubly difficult for me. I want to be pg again someday.

Jude gave me one on my arm the other day because I was letting him suck on it; I didn't realize he would leave a mark as he wasn't sucking that hard! He's latched on below the nipple before too, but not leaving a mark since I pull him off quick (it hurts!).

Oh, and I'm losing hair like crazy too. I remember after DD was born, I freaked out when it started because I didn't realize you lose SO much hair!

AAM: Jude rolled over tummy to back once and hasn't done it since.

For those discussing carriers, I have an Earthy Rainbow wrap (DS1 this carrier and calls it "rainbow"); it is so pretty and I think it looks good on anyone. I just got my Green Tea last week (took awhile since it got shipped back to sender and she had to reship it to me) and am loving it also!

I'm trying not to buy too many more (you don't want to know the extent of my collection of carriers ), but I would like to find a nice ring sling to wear to my sister's wedding in June. I'll be a bridesmaid and will need to wear DS2 for the reception, so I'm thinking a silk ring sling maybe.

Well, I guess this is my last post in our DDC; see everyone around LWAB, the other forum, and FB!

Jenny: congrats on Jude rolling over!
Re. your Earthy Rainbow and Green Tea wraps, what a coinkie dink! Did you see where I posted in LWAB that I just got an ER and have a Green Tea on the way to me?? We are Girasol twins.
Hearing about your son crying and crying breaks my heart. I wouldn't be able to leave my baby at all if he wasn't used to taking milk from others. I don't blame you for not wanting to do that with the others.
Maybe sometime we can meet up since you are close-ish. That would be nifty. We could rock out in our matchy-matchy wraps.
Did you join our Facebook group? If not, look up thread for the link. Pretty much all of us are on there.

Hapy birthday, Tara! My Ellie-bear hasnt had anything but my nipples either, the most I've left her is to go pick ds up from school and come back (about a half hour to 45 minutes round trip). For me it's an "I can do this" type thing - I don't own even one bottle and for me it's a big deal because I felt like a failure every time ds had his daily supplemental bottle since it was not my intention to have to supplement! I love being able to say this time around that my chunky little girl is growing thanks to me - it's very healing actually. :

My little stinker decided the middle of the night was a great time to master rolling from back to belly. She was fussing and I went to change her diaper, got back on the bed to find her on her belly. Flipped her back over, stinker did it again. Instead of thinking it was cute, all I wanted was for her to cooperate so we could go back to sleep. So much for those sweet milestone moments.

facebook I am so overwhelmed by it. All those applications and such get out of control and I end up not even going to the site because of that. I guess I have to make the attempt though... even my high school reunion info is on FB now, previous years have always been done through myspace. (Yep, ten year reunion this year, time to hit up the fitness thread lol....)

Oh my, I guess this is my last post to our DDC... feeling pretty sad about that. I have loved getting to know you guys!

:Tara Rae:

Congrats on your first birthday with your heart on the outside!!!

On FB... I ignore almost every application. It just gets to be too much if I don't. I like the Lil Green Patch App and the Circle of Moms, but that's pretty much it. I'm thinking my friends don't get too offended if I don't participate in them all.

I'm seriously thinking of selling my prefolds and getting AIOs for the medium/large size. We don't have the money right now and Hazel doesn't fit in the pf yet, but it's on the back of my mind. I have enough pockets, AIOs, and fitteds for her size until about 18 pounds so that I don't have to use the prefolds.... I think I have diaper on the brain way too much

My oma told me yesterday she got me a Didymos Katja in a size 6.: Will the 6 be big enough for me? I'm a size 14 petite (not the plus sized one) soon to be 12 petite I can ALMOST wear the 12s comfortably, my tummy just sticks over the top a little too much for my liking. Anyway... I've never had a woven wrap before and have no clue what size I need. I think if I need to, I can exchange it for a 7.

Yay for more rolling babies! Way to go Ellie! :

So true...heart on the outside.

A Didy?! I'm so jealous! (We really do need a jealous smiley....like a green-eyed monster or something)

AAM: What a great birthday surprise to see our DDC still in posting condition this morning! I was actually dreading logging on because I didn't want to face the facts. How sick are we all? Geez. It's not like we can't communicate anymore....it's just so hard to say goodbye to this particular board!

One of my sisters is coming over for the day to work on planning her wedding that is coming up in May. She's needing my help so we're focusing on designing the invites today and making a mock up (I made mine and spent less than $1 including shipping for each AND they were gorgeous. ).

I guess this will prob be my last Chit Chat post. Catch you all elsewhere!

Yes, I'm on FB; I also ignore most of it. I update my status and read others' status; I guess I'll have to remember to check out our group more often though. And maybe we can get together sometime in our matching wraps. I try not to drive far too often as DS2 doesn't like the car much anymore so it might have to wait awhile.

Yeah, I think my mom said he was mainly crying in the last 1/2 hour because he was tired and wanted his mommy. Luckily my mom is not the type to leave him to CIO; she held him and just did everything she could to let him know she was there (I wouldn't have left him with her if she weren't that way though). And with DS1, he refused the bottle (as did DD) so we went with the cup. But yeah, not doing that again; sorry DH.

You might want to exchange it just in case. It's always better to have too much length than not enough. For reference, I am 5'4" and about 130-140 lbs (140ish now); I can do a FWCC with a size 5, tying in the rails. So I would like a size 6 for a bit extra length. HTH!

Okay, this is probably really my last post in the DDC! DS1 is whining to nurse (milk, milk!), DD wants me to mirror dance with her and DS2 needs some clothes on! Time to get off the computer!

I don't add too many applications. They are just there for fun. You don't have to have them to participate, or keep in touch. Seriously, give it another go! It's fun to keep in touch with everyone that way! And I love seeing all the photos!

:: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TARA! : :

I, too, think having a baby is like having your heart on the outside! Such a beautiful phrase and concept.

Enjoy your day, Tara! And don't feel like you "should" be leaving Ally Rae or something. If you aren't sure she's ready, don't do it.

This is probably my last chit-chat post as well. Wow, what a journey. I know it's been said, but I will really miss this DDC spot on MDC. I know we'll stay in touch but it won't be in our own little corner -- it feels so public out on LWAB!

Talk to you all soon!
Ah, the DDC is still open. I will post in here til its closed.

Happy birthday Tara!!!: I hope your day is a lovely one!

With FB, I ignore most apps and just read what people write and update my status and do photos. :

Jenn: a Katya! How pretty...
You will be fine with a 6 from what I can see and read. Here:
http://www.birdiesroom.com/DIDYMOS_sizing.aspx
I can't wait to see pictures. When do you get it?
Jenn/Mamanurse I am 5' 10" and 170 lbs or so (size 16) and I can tie the FWCC with a size six, not a whole lot of extra length left but it works quite well still . I think you'll be just fine in a six!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TARA!!

Happy Birthday Tara!!!!

On FB - I too ignore anything that doesn't interest me. Like I did the "25 Things" b/c I thought that was cool. I haven't really done much of anything else though. I just like being able to see people's pics and stutuses (statusi?)

A really good friend of mine just announced she's getting married and they are TTC! : I'm not that big a fan of the dude, but I've only met him once and if she's happy, I'm happy. Yay for more babies!! She lives about 3.5 hrs away, so we won't be able to see each other that much more, but I love having friends having babies b/c I know Addie will have lots of playmates. That, and the friends without babies just don't get it, yk?

Awww, I'm gonna miss this place SO much! It's been the spot I go to first, even before checking my email most times!! You are all such lovey women and amazing Momma's and I feel honored to have met and gotten to know you and THANK YOU all so much for the support of this board! This DDC closing is definitely bittersweet b/c it means our childbearing year is over. :

Happy birthday Tara!!

Not much going on so far today. I work from home doing online tutoring two evenings a week, and since DH is going to be gone tonight one of our friends is going to come over and help with Eleanor while I work. When she was younger I could manage both her and work on my own, but she's too active for that now. I like the job, but since having a baby it's really stressful having to do it while being home with her but not being able to take care of her. I'd almost prefer to work outside the home, just so I'd be able to focus only on that. Maybe one of these nights I'll go work at the library and see how that goes.

Eleanor is definitely trying to sit herself up.

The saddest sound in the world is when she wakes up crying from a nap. :
I don't think our DDC has been this busy in weeks! Kind of funny that once you know something is going to be gone we just can't get enough.
Oh...I didn't forget your birthday Tara...

Happy Birthday!
Haha! Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes! DH got home at about 6:15 (hooray for early!) and we went to dinner at Longhorn and that was nice. I ordered my fave dessert there (Caramel Apple Goldrush) but the server came back and said they'd all been burnt that day. BUMMER! He found one that wasn't bad though and didn't even charge us for it. Ally finally went to sleep nursing when I was halfway done eating. Ryan and Ally Rae got me princess cut diamond solitaire earrings. So gorgeous! My Mom got me my Zolo and it's on it's way!! She also got me a $50 gift card for Amazon : My MIL sent me $100 and I got cash from DH's Grandma's too. That's all going toward a great camera I've had my eye on. I'm anxious to get my RS so I can learn to nurse in it! Rae, I may call you and just come over for a tutorial since you've got that all figured out. So, a good day overall.

Guess I'll just keep posting here too since we're still unlocked! :
I'm glad to hear you had a nice time celebrating your b-day, Tara!! So glad you were born, mama!: Sounds like you made off pretty good in the gift department!
Awww that sounds so nice Tara!:
What style of Zolo did you get? I love mine. You will have to post pix on FB when you get it or on the LWAB thread.
I am making an Indian dinner right now so gotta go stir...daal curry, rice, raita and garlic naan. Am super hungry after yoga and a looooong nap!
I will upload a cute pic of Jasper and his yoga baby girlfriend in a bit here...too sweet.
