Little Orphan Annie doll ideas?

My daughter is obsessed with Little Orphan Annie and I would love to make her a doll. Not sure where to start though. I have made one of those "Knitted Babies" and could do that again, but was hoping for something a little stiffer and life like.

Any thoughts?

Perhaps because of the current recession and financial troubles, Annie must be making a comeback. A client recently asked me to create an Orphan Annie and her dog, Sandy as a gift for her grand daughter. I think the classic Waldorf doll will work perfectly. You don't have to have a sewing machine. You can sew the doll entirely by hand or you can order it pre-sewn.

I plan to use a crochet loop cap wig with the loop intact for Annie's mop of hair. The red dress is very straightforward. There are a lot of photos available, online for reference. Good luck with yours!

HA!I thought it was just my daughter.

I think the Waldorf style would be great too.Or even just a simpler rag doll would be super cute.If you were going to make removable clothing you could make the red dress and the outfit she wears in the orphanage.And maybe you could knit Sandy with some shaggy yarn?

Even though I have several machines, I did dd's waldorf entirely by hand. She turned out so nice! I think a rag style doll would be easy to do (by hand or machine) as well. I loved Annie when I was a little girl! You need to post pics when you finish her!
