Best carrier for 27+ lbs

DS is 14 mo and 27 lbs...he loves being on Mama's back.

I have been quite happy with my Beco Butterfly for nearly a year, but now I find that after housecleaning/prolonged wearing I have a wicked backache.

Does anyone have a carrier recommendation for a heavier babe?

I am 5'2" and 116 if adult size is important to your recommendation

: Does anyone have a good suggestion? We are at 22lbs here and I'm already starting to have issues.

KOZY! I wear my nearly 3 yr. old 35 lb. DD in it often. I can wear my skinny minnie just turned 7 yr. old in there too! (But we only do that for fun...lol...)

We use a Kelty Back Pack and our son loves it! Great for doing anything in the house or outside.

I love my Ergo. DS is over 27 lbs now and rarely feels heavy (only if I'm unusually tired). HTH!

Mei tai or short (or long) woven wrap for me for back carries...I'm not huge on buckle carriers and also I like doing high back carries so little one can peek over my shoulder and I can't seem to get that with a buckle carrier.

My husband like buckle carriers though.

Which Kelty do you use? My DH uses a Kelty Back Pack and I find it too large for my frame- I can't adjust it enough to make it comfortable.

I have a Moby wrap that we loved when he was little, but the material is very stretchy and I thought it wouldn't hold him firm enough. How heavy is your LO?
Again, I loved the MT when he was smaller, but now I find it pulls uncomfortably. I liked the Beco for so long because it placed most of the weight on my waist/hips.

The Moby was great for me too until about 15-18lbs. After that I found that the stretch was not nearly as supportive as a woven wrap. I know some still use their stretchy wraps for older babies, but I prefer the support and comfort of a good woven wrap after 15lbs or so pounds.

My kids are 31 lbs and 28 lbs and I use mostly woven (not stretchy) wraps with them both. A short one (somewhere between 2.5m-3.6m depending on your size) is nice because there's not as much length, yet you can still do tons of carries with it.

Where does the MT pull? On your shoulders and back? That could be because you need to tighten the straps more when doing tying it on. I love the instructions on www.kozycarrier.com. It's amazing what a few bounces and pulling the straps up before tying will do for more support. Maybe try the tips on kozy site and see if that helps?
