Does anyone have any experience applying for state health coverage (CHIP) with an unvaccinated child? I know TX has an exemption as most states, just curious what your experience was like...wondering whether it will be worth it!?

I have CHIP in Maryland and four unvaccinated children. We haven't had any issues with it.

I have state insurance for 3 unvaccinated kids with no problems. I'm in Wisconsin.

In our appointment letter it says to bring vx records for all children. Were you asked for records? Did you bring a formal letter of exemption?

I'm bring along a formal copy of exemption along with a copy of your state's law, just as a CYA measure. I wouldn't be surprised if some of those workers have no idea that you can (legally) refuse vaccinations for your children. FWIW, my kids have been on state insurance since day one and I've never had trouble with their no-vax status.

We're ALL on medicaid (my whole family, yes that poor). And its never been an issue. I think last time we had to re-apply I may have said that 'yes DS is uptodate' (afterall they don't say whose schedule they're takling about here. But I honestly don't remember.
