really easy Valentine's craft?

My holiday thank you/new year's greetings cards are so late at this point I'm thinking I'll just send everyone an early Valentine's gift to let them know they're loved and appreciated.

Now, the thing is... I have an almost 4yo and a 19mo who will be involved in the crafting so it needs to be a quick craft that wont make a huge mess (or that is at least easy to clean up after). We need about 20-30 of the finished items (big extended family) The finished project will be sent through the mail and our budget is tight so it needs to be small and/or lightweight. And we'd like to use our Valentine's craft to announce our new pregnancy to the family.

I'm not asking for much, am I?

I was thinking maybe some sort of collage? Or something cut out of flat felt? But I'm kind of drawing a blank. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I know Martha Stewart loves Valentine's Day. I'm sure she has some good ideas, I think there is a child section on her website.

I love making cards. You could get a pack of plain cards/envelopes, cut heart shapes and glue them to the front. I sometimes find pretty pages in home decor magazines, Natl. Geo or garden mags./catalogs that I'll use to make cards with. Embellish with a little scrap lace, glitter, fabric can be decoupaged.

Hand/footprints are fun. You could leave a space for the new lo.

We've got a lot of ds2's watercolor paintings laying around. I'm planing on cutting them into heart shapes and using them for valentines to give to our playgroup friends. Maybe your girls could do something similar and then you could sign them from the girls and the baby?

You could do these valentines with sponge hearts:
