supplement swap

Heya ladies,

I just went to PM everyone, but I can only PM up to 5 people at a time. SO! If you want to be included in an off-site supplement swap (over email, basically: I would send an email to myself BCCing everyone so only I will have your email) PM me here and I will get that going in the next week. I would just start a thread, but I'm pretty sure it'd not MDC-legal. Though, I suppose if I mod reads this and wants to set me straight, I am all ears.

So we for sure can't do it on the swaps forum (or in this forum)? That sounds like a total PITA for you to have to email everyone...

Ooh, I'm in

Whichever way you do it, I'll go through my hundreds (thousand?) dollars worth of supplements and find the ones we don't/can't use!

I think it probably violates the UA to do something like that here... liability? I don't know. I should probably just suck it up and contact a mod, huh? How do I go about doing that? Just PM a mod in the swaps forum?
Yeah, that is what I'd do. Or they probably have a sticky at the top of the forum. It is probably okay, not like it's prescription drugs.

We could do it on heal thyself? or does that reach the same people (and not the un-allergic)?

i'm thinking it's all of the regulars. but it might be nice to list things there and then we can post the link in H&H?

Whatever we decide, I would like to be in. I don't have a TON to offer, but every month or so, I throw something out because it has hit (or long since passed!) an expiration date. It would be so nice for someone else to be able to use the things I'm not going to use!

Okay, I don't actually have that much in terms of supps...

I did buy this recently and have been avoiding it because of corn (Jarrow also can't guarantee it's not GMO corn) - it does have vit. K in the form of MK-7, so I was excited about it.

I have a bunch of infant probiotics with dairy in them, HMF Infant, Jarrow Baby, Udo's... don't know how I could ship them though?

I also have some lactose-based homeopathics - teething tablets, etc.

I will update if I think of more.

Expiration dates are basically arbitrary and irrelevant. The FDA requires that "a date" be placed on everything, beyond which the original potency may be less.

I googled and learned that expiration dates are basically a marketing (restocking) strategy and there isn't research and documentation supporting that the medication has lost potency. This is critically important for people who are tossing expensive drugs and can't afford to do so.

Liquid antibiotics, insulin and nitroglycerin do lose potency apparently.

End of PSA.

A separate Yahoogroup is probably the most private and secure way to do the swap. Heal Thyself is a public forum, as is MDC. You can select "by invite only" for membership approval on Yahoo.

I have Dulse powder by NOW that is almost full. It's a 4oz. bottle, expires 10/2010
I just really can't stomach it.

I'll update as we go if I have others

I have a shelf full of things I may as well just give away so they don't get wasted. I probably can't swap with anyone, because we are on SCD. But, I'd like to pass along what I have so it's not a total waste.

I don't want to swap anything since nobody probably has anything we can take anyway. I'll just mail them out. Only the Sleep Aide is opened (I had 1 or 2 I think).

Vital Nutrients Sleep Aide - it might work for normal people. It affected me the same way as Rozerem which the doctor said he'd never heard of. It doesn't effect me until the following afternoon. Ingredients: passionflower herb extract, lemon balm leaf extract, hops strobile extract, california poppy herb extract, valerian officinalis root extract, L-Theanine, Lavender essential oil, melatonin, vegetable cellulose capsule, may contain ascorbyl palmitate and/or silica.

Everything else still has seals in place:
Garden of Life Primal Defense Ultra (it says on back "probiotics are cultured in dairy, which is generally consumed during the fermentation process"; I just didn't want to chance it). 90 capsules.
NutriBiotic Sodium Ascorbate powder. 16 oz. It says it contains no corn residue and persons "allergic to corn" can use this product with confidence, but that means that corn is still used in the process, so we won't chance it.
Enzymedica Kids Digest. 90 servings (powder). Too many ingredients (look it up online). It has xylitol. Can't remember if I called for the source of the xylitol. We tried it and neither of my kids liked it, so I have an open one still, but this one is still sealed.
Jarrow Formulas Saccharomyces Boulardii + MOS. 90 capsules. Other ingredients: ascorbic acid, maltodextrin, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide. Says no wheat, no gluten, no soybean, no dairy, no egg, no fish/shellfish, no peanuts/tree nuts. Which leaves corn which is why we're not using it.
Enzymatic Krebs Cycle Chelates (these have maltodextrin). 100 tablets. Look up the ingredients for this one. I bought 2 bottles of these and can't remember why. I've been trying to use up the opened one but now that I see it's got maltodextrin (how did I miss that?) I guess I'm not having my opened one either.
PM me.
