2.5yr. no speach, wierd poop, very shy

My ds1 is 2years4mo. And still has very little words (communicates well though through his own signing and noises). Since weaning (at 1.5 yrs) has had very soft poop with nuts and raisens coming through unaltered. His poop is often not formed but in one big pile in the potty. He's is also extreemly shy.

Does anyone have experience with this. Could he be allergic/intorerant to something? This has been slowly coming into my head as I try to heal my 4mo. ds2 who has bloody poop.

Thank you!!! You all have been wonderful.:

Having raisins and nuts come through unaltered is pretty common......but the rest of the poo issues could be food intollerance related.

Does your ds seem congested?

We recently found out that our ds was allergic to soy after he complained about his ears feeling full, with no pain. I thought it was his only symptom, but his headaches and tummy aches that were intermittent throughout the day also have disappeared now that the soy is gone from his diet.

Anyway, if your ds is chronically congested, it would definitely impact the way he is hearing language and could be delaying his use of it, and would contribute to his shyness since he'd struggle with hearing all the nuances of social language. Environmental allergies could also be a factor, too.

I do feel like he hears well as he understands everything I say. He has come out with words and then they've disapeared for over a year now. And he does say a few, mama, dada, apple, roof, Hi.

The poop doesn't sound right to me. Here are a couple sites I reference for my kids on good poop:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Stool_Scale
http://www.enzymestuff.com/rtstools.htm

For us, getting rid of gluten and dairy were the first steps toward good poop, with the goal clearly not being pretty poop but being good digestion, good nutrient absorption, and feeling good. I haven't mastered everything for the kids yet, not by a long shot, but lots of good probiotics (so far I'm seeing if I can make this work with lots of homemade kimchee) really seem to help.

It can be hard to figure out what foods are problematic, especially if it's either one or two daily-eaten foods, or if it's lots and lots of foods.

When you say words have come and then disappeared for a year now--that seems like a long time to me (again, not an expert here). When my kids were gaining words, they'd try some a few times and then I wouldn't hear them for a while, but they were either adding in new words or doing something else developmental, and I don't think I ever had such a long time lag between first hearing a word and then it being used as-needed. From your timeline--did your LO seem to be adding in words, then weaned (and the poop got too squishy, which was our problem too) and then new words slowed down and words disappeared?
