I have a maya wrap that I've been using for dd since she was about a month old. I love being able to nurse her in it even while at the store. I tried her in it today after not using it for a few days and she seemed too big. She's 5 months and somewhere near 16 pounds. Is there another wrap I can get that will allow me to nurse her comfortably? I'm looking at Moby wraps. I've only seen one used but really thought it was neat. Will that work?

Would your Maya Wrap still work for you if you nursed upright instead of cradle? That may prolong the life of it for you. I still can use it with my almost 30 lb 22 month old, so there's a lot of life left on the Maya Wrap, in my opinion.
I wouldn't recommend a Moby though for a 16 lb baby, as a stretchy wrap is nearly as supporitve as a woven wrap. You could still do all the Moby carries shown on their site, but with a woven wrap and you'll get a lot more support with a baby this weight than you would with a stretchy wrap. Stretchy wraps are great though for new babies.

Tummy to tummy or hip carry should still work fine at that age. Even for nursing. If you're interested in something else a woven wrap might suit you. But really the maya could last for a long long time still.
Thank you for the replies. I will try again with the Maya. I was standing in the waiting area of a crowded restaurant trying to fit her in with lots of people trying to talk to me. I was getting frustrated, she was screaming, I just gave up. I will try at home with a much calmer atmosphere.

as baby gets bigger with more head control, i find nursing pretty easy in a larger bodied MT like a Kozy. especially if you have a nursing shirt or tank on so your belly isn't sticking out.
but ITA, your Maya still has lots of life left in it!
