I have no updates (since this morning ).
Here's what I just wrote in the May '09 DDC thread though:

MIL went back up there to spend a few more days with him- she's barely left his side since the accident but she came yesterday and spent one night at home. The nurses told her to go and rest.
The first 2 days she was there, she had nothing to eat since she had no way to call us (it's long distance and she left before we could get her our cell phone), she's broke and the hospital won't provide food for her- and when we'd call to try to check on him (and her), they'd only give her a message rather than putting us through to the room (because we're not family). She has a cell phone now and we've given her money for food so I'm not as worried about her. She can at least get ahold of us to tell us she needs to come home, needs money for food, needs <whatever> and to let us know how he's doing.

It's been a long day for me, despite doing absolutely nothing- besides sitting on the couch watching ds2 destroy the house. It feels like it should've been days that have passed by now- but that's how time seems to be acting for me lately.

I just got off the phone with MIL and wanted to post an update. She had our cell phone, but I didn't want to call because I didn't want to be nagging, getting in the way, waking her up or something (I'm notorious for calling at exactly the *wrong* moment, so I'm a little paranoid about it ) and wasn't certain she'd answer it.
SFIL is doing very well. He's conscious and they've started physical rehab. He's also becoming more "with it" every day- he knows the year and knows what happened. He's still on morphine. I'm not sure how long they intend to keep him, but he is supposed to be transferred out of ICU either today or tomorrow.
Thank you for your support, prayers and thoughts.

That is so great to hear.

: That's wonderful news!

FWIW, I'm an OT - I work with people after they get back to their homes. It never ceases to amaze me how often I meet people with only mild issues to resolve and they started off like your SFIL. The power of the body to heal is really amazing.

I'm really happy to hear that!
