Writing numbers and letters bottom to top rather than top to bottom - Page 2

My 12 year old ds still writes from bottom to top, despite 2 years of instruction (at school-- preK and K) to do it the "proper" way.

His writing is readable, so .

My 9 year old does this as well. Interestingly, she also starts her artwork at the bottom.

I guess for me, I'm not as worried about my ds's letters having perfect form, but I do want to help him so that writing isn't a struggle, so he can easily write, with more flow. So, I am guessing that just happens with time and practice, but it's sort of a cycle. He doesn't write easily, so he doesn't do it much.

I have no idea where my kids start their letters at! What matters is the handwriting result, right? I guess I'm lost as to why it there's a specific place they should start

Yeah so am I, that is why I asked.
I was wondering if there was a real reason they had to or should learn top to bottom. It does not sound like there is a reason.

Thanks everyone for the replies.
