joining for October mums

Hi

I am Roxanne, I am due with babe #2 on Oct 4. My dd was born in May/06. We are planning a homebirth again with the same midwives that we used for dd. I have just finished a Bachelor of Nursing so at least I won't have that stress during this pregnancy.:

Hi

I'm Jamie due about October 11th. We just found out last night and we are a bit in shock I should say. DD will be 5 in october and ds will be 3 in April. I am a nursing student and not too sure how this is going to change that. I have an appointment with my dr. tomorrow(although she thinks its for PCOS issues).

Roxanne, where are you in AB? I deliverd DS1 with the Briar Hill Midwives in Calgary and absolutely loved them!

Hi Jenny,
we were with Briar Hill midwives as well, We used team A, Penny, Carol, Joy, Mary. We are going with the same team but Joy is no longer with Briar Hill, she has her own practice in Cochrane and I am not sure how much Penny is working after being sick last fall (Check out their facebook page for info). I saw your post that you will be returning to Calgary for the birth have you contacted Briar Hill yet? Midwifery will be funded by provinicial health care as of April 1 so I am not sure how busy they will be.

Oh man! I just got a positive this morning. It has been quite a day! And just now a friend reminded me about DDCs! So here I am!

I'll read through this thread tomorrow... I'm pretty tired... what I was so sure was PMS

Hi there! I'm Melissa and I'm due Oct 17th. We are so thrilled and surprised! We had a hard time getting PG with #2 a and eventually had to turn to meds. This time we got pregnant on the 1st cycle trying and all natural too!!
Not really any symptoms yet...other than cramping.

Congrats Mama's!!!!! I'm looking forward to getting to know you all! :

Hello! I'm Jennifer. We were supposed to be taking this month off from ttc, but apparently it was too late! I realized last week that I was about a week late and tested and lo and behold, here I am! This is my 8th pg, will be my ninth child. I have a 4 yo boy, a 2 yo girl and six angels.

After losing our twins last May, our peri ordered new testing and we discovered that our previous results were wrong/incomplete. I tested positive for MTHFR and lupus anticoagulant. I am feeling positive this time, as I have been taking extra precautions this time and hope very much to find an accomodating midwife and have a homebirth. This will be our last child (fingers crossed!) and I want to enjoy every second of this pg, rather than the usual u/s after u/s and worry. We feel much more confident and prepared this time.

Am I dreaming?

Hi Everyone and CONGRATULATIONS!

I keep checking on my BFP sticks, as if they will all (yes, *all* ...I am a poas machine right now) turn neg. But it's + after +

...I'm still in shock!

I am 34 (will be 35 when baby is born) and this is my first pregnancy. We started TTC in Dec. The online due date calculators are telling me my EDD is Oct 16 but I have 32 day cycles, so I believe I'm due closer to Oct 21.

We haven't told anyone IRL yet...figuring out where we stand on that.

As this is my first, I feel a mite confounded. I have been gathering midwife info for a while, so I guess we are going to start interviewing? We have planned for a homebirth long before we started TTC so I guess it's just HERE WE GO!!!!!!

Looking so forward to sharing in this amazing time with all of you!!! :

Hi Everyone,
I took my test and found out we are expecting baby #3. I am fairly low-stress about pregnancy, even though I am technically *high-risk* due to my own medical issues. I have a DS who just turned 3 today and a DD who is nearing 17 months.

What I feel I need most is for someone to simply be excited for me. We only just called my in-laws and they were so unbelievably low-key it completely killed the urge to tell my own parents so I haven't done so. It seems as though we've had two babies in a row, the third isn't quite as special or exciting. I remember the unbelievably marked difference in people's reactions between the birth of our 1st and 2nd babies, it makes me wonder how much more does it diminish with the 3rd?

Well I am excited for you

My MIL and a couple close friends are the only ones who have acted really excited for me. I haven't told the general public yet because the last reactions that I recieved were mostly... Your pregnant AGAIN!??! ones..

But I decided I could care a less about who is excited for me or not, Honestly my own dh isn't excited. But I sure am

lil_stinkyfeet and leigh09-I completely understand what you are both talking about. I have noticed the same thing from people I tell about my pregnancies. The first and second are pretty exciting, but once the third pregnancy comes people don't seem to be excited for you at all. They say stupid things like, "Don't you have cable TV?" or "Why don't you turn on the heater?". I know they are kidding but it can douse you own excitement. I just tell very few people anymore. I don't like being told I'm crazy for having so many children. I love them and they are precious to me and so many of the same people tell me how well behaved and wonderful my children are, so why wouldn't they want me to put another fabulous person into the world? I'm excited for any woman pregnant who is excited and happy about it herself!

So CONGRATULATIONS ladies!!!!!! I'm excited for you!!!!!

firewoman, lil_stinkyfeet, and leigh09: I feel the same way. We told my parents on Sunday night and they were so lukewarm about it. My mom just wanted to ask questions about if I am on any waiting lists for childcare yet, and how much maternity leave I'll have. We haven't had a baby in a while, our sons are 8 and 5, and I'm really excited to have another baby. I think our friends will be excited for us when we tell them, but our family just isn't...DH isn't exactly thrilled either. It took 2 years of near constant pleading to get him to "consent" (not exactly the same as agreeing) that we could try for another. One of the reasons MDC has been so great for me is that I get to be "virtually" surrounded by women who are all excited about having kids, no matter how many we have.

The funny thing is, we live in Utah, which is renown for it's large families, but since we aren't of the "dominant culture" it's a totally different perception amongst our groups--like 3 kids is a real stretch. At any rate, I'm excited for all of us! : It's a good thing we have each other.

leigh, I am excited for you!! : : : : A new baby is an AWESOME gift, you are embarking on a magical journey right now!

Big Fat Congratulations! :

Hello everyone!

I am Meag, just got a positive pee test yesterday and a confirmed blood test today!! So excited to be pregnant with our second baby!!!!! My oldest just turned 2...I actually found out on her birthday. I am so newly pregnant that I don't even know my due date yet (not exactly sure when this occurred as we've been really busy with our newly bought house and I hadn't been paying any attention). But if I had to guess, it would be around Oct. 20th.

I'm so excited to get to know you all and experience this wonderful time with you! I had a wonderful pregnancy the first time around, but I didn't know about Mothering (or my DDC) until my sixth month!! So, I missed out on a lot. Looking forward to interacting more in this DDC!

Thank you ladies for your congratulations. It makes me smile to know others are excited for more babies to be coming into the world

preggymeaggy - i found out this pregnancy on my oldest's third birthday. i also have no idea my due date since i don't chart or have regular cycles. with my last two children i got a rough estimate until i had my 1st trimester ultrasound. i'm figuring i'm also due somewhere in the end of october and am only a few weeks pregnant.

I am excited for you too! Yippee a baby! That is AWESOME!:::

Why are others less excited when it is the 2nd, 3rd or 4th? My DH isn't excited either - doesn't even talk about it. If i mention I feel sick or anything he just shrugs his shoulders : I'm hoping he will come around once i get into the 2nd trimester and get my first US in March but I am not convinced.

I haven't told my family yet as I know the reaction I will get. My mum worries about us living so far away from anyone and not having help ( we live in the bush). But, it's so demoralizing when you are greeted with a lukewarm reaction compared to the first pg. * sigh*. It's a pretty lonely road. At least DD, my dogs and fish seem to be happy for me

Hi Everyone!

I've been here for about a week, but am just now jumping in here! Didn't want someone to see me hear before I got to tell a few key people.

My son is 14 m.o. and will be a couple months shy of 2 when baby is born. I am excited but pretty nervous too. Nervous about nursing especially. And work. I work full time and have been unable to sleep the last few days trying to figure out what to do after baby's born. I already have a hard time finding childcare for my ds. Yikes! (I am married and DP is employed, so I do have some wiggle room and don't "have" to work full time. Props to you single mamas out there!)

I really loved my DDC last pregnancy. It was such a help to have so many caring, helpful mamas who were going through the same thing--and who introduced me to a lot of things I hadn't ever heard of! I'm looking forward to getting to know you!
