ironing on an iron transfer on a completed AIO

I just bought DS some PUL solid AIO's that i would like to embellish a bit since I didn't have the funds to buy embroidered already. How can I do it? I've thought of a few things.

1. buy an iron on transfer and iron it on the bum of the dipe. Will gentle heat be enough to transfer yet not damage PUL?

2. buy an applique and glue it with fabric glue. Will the glue be strong enough to keep the applique on through many frequent washings?

3. stencil something on. What is the best/easiest thing to use for this? markers? Although it scares me to start drawing and then mess up because of shaky hands!

Will any of these things work? And more importantly will they look nice?

I would think that maybe buy an applique and hand stitch it on. I don't know if by stitching it would cause tiny holes in the pul and cause small leakage. I know that when I use these on my DD's jeans just using an iron to put it on does not last through washings and I had to stitch them down to prevent having to conctantly keep ironing it back down.

I think you're better to stencil something on with fabric paint.

1. you're going to melt your PUL. And you need a good flat surface and pressure to get the iron on to adhere. I'm trying it on a diaper cut and it has shrunk the PUL a bit. Doesn't look bad, but I'm not even sure yet that it will hold up to washing.

2. I don't think the glue will hold. You'd have to sew it on, and doing that on a ready made diaper, you won't be able to stabilize it, or add any extra PUL to the back to ensure waterproofing.

3. Your best bet I think. Get some fabric paint and have fun!
