i'm having two issues which are probably related. in June 08 i had several filling done. a few of them were in between my lower molars. the dentist used metal rings to hold the fillings in place while he did the work. a few days later my gums started to swell around those teeth. my jaw hurt and my teeth were sore when i chewed. i pulled out my dental pick and pulled out tons of chewed food from in between the two fillings. like meat i had for dinner two days prior. it was gross. i thought my filling had fallen out. i called the dentist and he checked it, everything looked fine. he told me my teeth would move together on their own. 7 months later i'm still fishing chunks of food out of my teeth. i don't think they were properly filled.

issues two- same visit as the first one. i had a filling put on the top of my molar as well. he had me do the bite test several times and keep grinding off the extra material. i thought it felt fine but after a few days it still felt off. i forgot to mention it when i went back to check my filling. my bit and jaw has gotten so much worse. i'm constantly clenching and grinding my teeth now. my jaw pops so much more then in the past. my ear is starting to hurt. it's getting worse day by day.

so now i'm wondering if should see a dentist, a chiro or both. is it standard practice to use the metal rings for fillings? my previous dentist used the rubber shields. any suggestion on where to go from here?
