Is it possible to make an AIO with PUL in *middle*??

hello, all! i am interested in making a foray into the diaper making world! i am due with baby #4 in June, but this will be my first time CD'ing a newborn (i started ds @ 3 mo -- and he was in Mediums within 6 weeks of that!).

i have a TON (and i mean, probably nearly 100 yds) of solid and printed flannel that i purchased for another project on a stupid whim over a year ago! i'd LOVE to use up some of that cute stuff, but the idea of spending time and energy to make cute fitteds and then covering them with PUL covers bugs me! has anyone had success making a diaper with PUL as an interior layer??? i'm assuming no since i could find ZERO reference to this online, but i have to ask!

advice, please!

edited to add that i searched and found a thread on this from three years ago!

if you're talking about a hidden layer of pul for your cover so that you can put a cuter layer of print on top, yes, you can do that. Although I've never done it, because I figured that if I want a cute print, just save a step and use a PUL'd print instead of solid. KWIM? I don't know if any WAHM's still do dipes like I stated above with the PUL layer hidden but DD used to. I had some and they did seem to wick a bit more then dipes with just a PUL outer with no other layer on top. I wonder if maybe you can PUL flannel? You could ask someone who knows where to send in cloth for laminating. Maybe you could do that and then you'd have the cute print and single layer of PUL at the same time.

I put cotton on the outside of my AIOs over ProCare (similar to PUL) It worked fine and our diapers are awefully cute. The one thing I would add~and you probably already know, you will want to wash and dry your flannel before you cut it for diapers as it tends to shrink quite a bit. I created my own pattern similar to these diapers: http://mudpiebabies.com/

Yes, you can do this. It works fine. It's a little more likely to wick than the regular PUL, esp if you're using flannel, but it's not enough of a problem to prevent me from doing it. We have several diapers like that. Mostly I buy printed or solid colored PUL but I did make some with a hidden layer of PUL too.

You can, but they will be very prone to wicking around the legs as the cotton outer ends up coming in contact with the absorbent inner material-unless you are binding them with FOE. There is a way to minimize or prevent this though...check out this tutorial: http://diaperdivas.proboards57.com/i...d=85371&page=1

I have NOT had good luck putting cotton outers over PUL. It seems to be pretty hit and miss - some people have no trouble, others get nothing but leaks.

Binding with FOE seems like the method that's the most successful. Has the advantage of being super fast, too!
