? about mother's leaky gut causing food intolerance in child

So, IF my possibly leaky gut is actually the cause of DS's wheat sensitivity, does that mean that when I stop nursing him, he will no longer have the wheat issue, OR is his system now changed to be sensitive?

Am I asking that right? I still do not know if its' celiac, allergy, sensitivity, or my leaky gut or whatever. Still researching blood tests for allergy so I will probably be asking more questions about those. thanks!

Good questions. Anecdotally, I've heard of a few people whose children reacted to the mom's reaction. Meaning, her body was having some immune response to a food and the baby reacted to those chemicals.

However, I think that's really rare and more often a baby's body
DOES become sensitized to the foods leaking out in mom's milk. We all know that early introduction of solids can lead to food allergies in a baby. When a leaky gut mom is eating the big allergen foods, it's like she's feeding those foods directly to her baby. Of course, it would appear that not all leaky gut moms leak all the big allergens or perhaps not all the babies become sensitized to all the big allergens, because obviously, not all of these babies are allergic to every one of those foods. Anyway, does that make sense?

IF your baby reacts to any foods you eat, you have a leaky gut. A healthy gut should digest foods completely and properly and should never leave whole proteins that make it into your blood where they then get made into milk. Of course, celiac, allergy, or intolerance are harder to figure out and require more testing.

How does your lo react to wheat, btw? How old is he? Does he eat solids? Sorry if you've already answered these elsewhere. It's hard to keep everyone straight!

I think that now his body is sensitized to wheat, so he would most likely react to it with or without BFing. Once you're sensitized, your sensitized. There's still a chance for him to outgrow it though.

Thanks! No, sorry I don't quite understand your second paragraph. Maybe I need to re-read it a few times. I'm not the smartest bulb in the bunch.

He does not seem to react to any other food except wheat (or gluten, not sure. We don't ingest gluten as a precaution). He has gotten the redness on the skin from cinnamon touching it, but I read about that here and sounds like they usually outgrow that. I don't think that has happened for a while now, but he doesn't have it that often.

He had symptoms as a newborn:

-productive toots and lots of pooping
-mucousy poohs
-burn rash on rectum
-bad cradle cap
-eczema spots

All went away 6 days after I cut out wheat from my diet, when he was about 2mo. I have food and environmental allergies/asthma which I'm trying to lessen/correct with naturopath and also looking into homeopathic once I have a better determination of what's going on. Most likely going to do an ED diet soon for myself. My naturopath said I am constipated which is causing toxins to go back into my system and that I probably have leaky gut.
Thanks for any insight you can give me.

Sorry, I probably just gave too much info without enough background. My main point is this:

We all know that early introduction of solids can lead to food allergies in a baby. When a leaky gut mom is eating the big allergen foods, it's like she's feeding those foods directly to her baby, whose body is nowhere near ready for them. So then her baby becomes sensitized (allergic) to those foods.

OK, if I understand what you are saying, then that is not the case with us. I started him on solids (very slowly) between 6-7 months old. HOWEVER...

He DID have 1-2 bottles of formula within the first week as a newborn, on BAD STUPID advice from the ped's office (I have since switched offices). So he did ingest dairy directly and whatever other crap is in formula. I don't recall if he had productive toots the first week. I also got the flu shot while pg and 2 Rhogam shots I regret the flu shot and the first Rhogam as I'll never know if that affected him.

I think there's some confusion somewhere. Either that or my pregnancy brain is overwhelming me because I'm confused after reading this thread.

What's not the case? Have you been avoiding wheat as long as he's been bfing?

ETA: I saw you sid you cut it out at 2 mths and he improved. That's definitely enough exposure to sensitize him to wheat.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you meant him directly ingesting the offending food! Which he has not done except by accident after 1yo.

If your gut is leaky, it is the same as him directly ingesting the offending food since the food proteins are then in your milk.
