It never ends... the poisoning of our children.

Quote:
The study concluded that the mercury came from food plants that use caustic soda laced with mercury to produce high fructose corn syrup for major food companies.
Nice. :

"Environmental mercury exposure via food, water and air is a threat to sensitive populations -- those who may not be able to effectively metabolize mercury (autistic children and the elderly). Sensitive populations may be bioaccumulating mercury and this leads to neurological effects," she said in an email.
Exactly.

The mercury findings, while potentially alarming, should be viewed in context, said Michael Jacobson, executive director of the Center for Science in the Public Interest. The report found 300 parts per trillion of mercury in Jack Daniel's Barbecue Sauce, but that's still 30 to 3,000 times less than the amount of mercury found in fish and seafood.
"I suspect people eat more fish than barbecue sauce," he said.
Yeah, it SHOULD be viewed in context. In the context that most American kids eating a SAD diet will eat WAY more packaged foods than fish, so it could be just as (if not more) harmful. Including many of the things that they listed as containing mercury:

Sure, no biggie if your kid eats a nutri-grain bar a few times over his/her life. But that's NOT the way it is. More like some amount of HFCS in every meal, everyday.

Mercury has me dog sick and I'm going through chelation right now. My reaction to that article was one big UA violation! And I haven't eaten SAD in years!

Now I'm hearing that cornstarch must be avoided, too. I've got to do more reading about that to find out whether or not I agree, but BOY! I'm MAD!

I was coming on line to post this article. You guys beat me to it. I guess now I'm glad that corn is out of our diet!

We avoid HFCS, but just another reason to do so...what's the deal with cornstarch--I rarely use it, but...
