Mama of Octuplets is Breastfeeding All of Them :) - Page 2

I think it's so fabulous that she's even TRYING. So many mamas of many would have just given up, and the fact that the news is buzzing about it might be a good thing too. Some mama about to have two or three or even four out there might be thinking wow, if she can breastfeed EIGHT, maybe I really CAN nurse my 2/3/4!

Well, with as little as they are, she should be able to build up a good freezer stash! My boss and his wife had a super preemie (about 1 lb 6 oz) and by the time he came home, they had enough milk in the freezer for 8 babies! I hope she reaches out to the community to get all the support she needs!

I'm just so stoked about all the positive press it gives to breastfeeding...

Especially since her doc is saying she can do it... maybe all those women who get told, "your babe is too big, you probably won't make enough milk" will stop and say, "now wait a minute, if that woman can make enough for 8 babies, then I can make enough for my one."

Yeah, I think the fact that the doctor is supporting her effort is key. That is just amazing to hear about.

That was short-lived: 5 of CA's Octuplets start bottlefeeding with formula

Quote:
Five of the octuplets born to a Southern California woman have begun bottle feeding on formula.

Kaiser Permanente Bellflower Medical Center spokeswoman Socorro Serrano says bottle feeding of the other three babies is expected to begin later Wednesday.
At least she's still pumping!

Wow...that Mama is now a Mom to 14 and her husband is going back to Iraq.

Lots of prayers for her!

her father is going back to Iraq, the babies grandfather.
The mother herself is single/unmarried.

That's amazing! Good for her! I can't imagine nursing that many babies. She'll be busy, that's for sure....

That's great, according to the latest correction she's pumping in anticipation of breastfeeding and they're being bottle fed with donated breast milk.
I, for one, am dying to know what she's planning on naming them.

I think that's because with MDC's new rules about news and issues, there's not much people can say.

I'm very glad they are all going well, and having some human milk.

While I might not agree with all her choices, those are hers, not mine. Can't wait to hear their names their.

I don't really know what to say. Just interesting....

Well, it's one thing to have 14 kids... but quite another to have 14 kids all under age 8 (or so, not sure) & 8 newborns simultaneously. I only have one DC myself, but I would imagine it's a night & day difference.

Ummm...I'm watching a clip on the view about this. And they are laughing at the thought and saying "baby bottles". Did anyone see this. You can watch it at the view then parenting section. It made me sad. I'm disappointed.
