Some help with NB measurements?

I've recently started making some fitted NB dipes. I made the Shar's pattern and it turned out TINY - only 11.5" rise and 4" at crotch. I in the process of making a Mama Bird, but I prefer dipes without the exposed elastic, like the Shar's. Anyway, I recently found this on the web and became concerned that the dipes I'm making will all be too small when Junebug arrives:

FWIW, one of my babies was 7 lbs, 21 inches and the other was 7.5 lbs, 19 inches.

Can someone guide me to a more realistic size for newborns based on your experience and

Should I just bag the fitteds and make some prefolds?

TIA.

Hello fellow June DDC mom!

http://webpages.charter.net/rhamley/...%20pattern.htm gives similar measurements to the site you gave. The ones you made might be too small.

If you liked the pattern you could make it larger on a copier. Or you could try another pattern. As for the diapers you already sewed, maybe you could donate them to Miracle Diapers or Cotton Babies Diaper Grants for a preemie or small infant.

Don't give up just yet!

Thanks so much, BBG. I've shifted to making the Mama Bird without the allowance for the ruffle and they seem to be a better size.
