Weight Plateau?

At 34 weeks, I've only gained a little over a pound in the last 3-4 weeks. I've also noticed that my appetite is diminished somewhat compared to what it was a week or so ago. The other day, I woke up and had a Carnation instant breakfast, then had to MAKE myself get up and have something to eat 4 and a half hours later.

Oh, and I also had a little diarrhea when I woke up today, but that could have been because I barely slept at all last night.

Anyway, all of these put together are making me worry a bit that maybe I'm closer than I think to going into labor...or does this all seem normal?

My weight gain really drops off at the end, too. There's a lot less room for the stomach to expand, so I really can't eat very much at a time. I think it's perfectly normal to not gain or even lose a few pounds in the last few weeks of pregnancy.

I hope there is a plateau! I'm still gaining though at 35w. :P I'm up 35lbs so far.

I think it's kind of normal to "run out of room" though - I think I'm just "special"

I have lost 3 lbs in the last week which I thought was strange. I thought I was still eating the same amount. So I don't know why this is happening.

Ok, the fact that I'm not the only one makes me feel less nervous!

Thanks ladies

At my 31 week prenatal check, I had lost a pound since the 29 week check. Midwife wasn't concerned, as long as no weight loss trend develops.

Yeah, I'm 31 weeks and have been slowing down in my weight gain a lot the last couple of weeks.

Decreased gain or even losing a little bit is perfectly normal the closer you get to term. Amniotic fluid is decreasing a bit & your stomach is squished a lot smaller so you're eating less.

I wish. I think I'm one of those "special" women too that is still gaining. Ugh. Blasted right past 40lbs gained and continuing.

Yes, I always plateau starting around 35 weeks.

my gain has seemingly plateaued, hovering right at the 30 mark for about 3 weeks. especially now that i'm confined to the house, i find that i'm eating a lot less. just don't need as much energy for laying around!!!

thanks to the pp who mentioned carnation instant breakfast though, that is going on my grocery list!!!

Yeah, no plateau for me. Matter of fact, I gained another 6 lbs in 2 weeks. Total so far at 68 lbs. at 34 weeks. I'm going to go cry now.

I don't know if my weight has really plateaued as I haven't been watching it at all this time around. I think I have gained about 10 lbs total which is normal for me the last 3 pregnancies. I do know I am not hungry. I could go all day without eating until dinner but I always want my ice cream late night snack!

Well, OB appt. yesterday...gained a aprox. a pound in 2 weeks. That puts me up 23 lbs. from pre-pregnancy. We'll see how this 2 week period goes!

And yeah, I'm loveing the Carnation. I was eating Special K protien meal bars for breakfast, but they started making me feel pukey again after 2-3 weeks.

While in past pregnancies I have always the been the one who keeps gaining and gaining until the last day of pregnancy, this time I stopped gaining about a month ago and have actually lost 4 pounds. I was kind of concerned, but my midwife seems to be okay with it. Plus, I started the pregnancy with an extra 12 pounds or so from previous pregnancies, so I'm sure I have plenty to spare!

Still, I thought I would mention--just to encourage the ladies who keep gaining--you are doing a wonderful job growing those babies....my experience has shown that whether I gain 50 or 25 (and I've done both of these), I always lose down to about 10-15 pounds above my pre-preg weight pretty effortlessly. It's those last 10-15 pounds that like to stick around!

I'm from the April DDC, but had to post b/c I'm doing the same. I've plateaued and been losing ounces a day for the past week and a half. My alternate due date is March 28, so I wonder if I'm really going to have a March baby.

I am eating less because I have these acid refluxes all day as a result of breakfast. I'm going to try to snack more, but I make unwise choices when I eat that way. I eat hardly anything for lunch or dinner, though I'm hungry. And I fill really fast - after only a few bites. Must not be much room in there...

I am still gaining. I gained 5 lbs between my 31 and 33 week appts, taking me up to a 30lb total so far. I'm pretty sure I kept gaining right up until the end with my other two. I am constantly hungry and eating. Luckily, I've lost the weight fairly easily (yay for breastfeeding!) with my other two.

That's what I go by, seeing as how by the time I had my first OB appt. @ 8 weeks, I'd already lost about 10 lbs and been to the ER for IV fluids.

Does anyone NOT go by their pre-pg weight? That seems weird to me, I guess.
