I posted this on another board and got the good suggestion to post it here
Okay, so I'm overwhelmed enough with our move from Canada to Illinois that I'm just getting worn down with all the things we need to do, the overhead and differences between our countries!
I know you ladies have a lot of info on selective vax I remember reading that Illinois does not have an option of not vaxing due to reasons of conscience, just medical or religious.
Our little one has had the typical vaccinations (minus rotavirus, we don't do that in Canada on a regular basis) with the exception of chicken pox and MMR. We weren't comfortable with these (couple others I'm not thrilled about, but that's another story). Editing to add she doesn't have Hep. B either, didn't think of that earlier as we don't give it to infants in Canada.
So we've started looking at daycares and they want the full medical form filled out. We had to fill out a vaccination record for the daycare back home, but this needs to be signed by doctors and has a whole medical on it!
SO, I guess my questions are:
1) What are my options given we're not prepared to give her the MMR and chickenpox vaccines to get into daycare. I think it is writing/filling out forms indicating a religious issue with them. I think we might be able to do this as, if I remember correctly, these two are the ones derived from aborted fetal issue?
2) Does anyone remember if they have to actually take their child to a doctor or if I can get my clinic from back home to fill in the info? It has a lot of questions, but if it can go by her chart, I'd rather just do that.
3) ANything else I should know?
Thanks for helping a bewildered mom.
