Providing financial info to mortgage broker

So our mortgage broker (understandably) wants us to provide proof of our savings. However, I feel weird giving out our account numbers to him...think I could just send him a statement with the account numbers blacked out?

I used to process mortgage loans. Please do not blackout any info. It's very likely the lender will not accept it and they'll ask you for the same info again. It can look like you are trying to hide info.

Thanks, I don't want to hide anything. I've had my identity stolen before so I'm just leery of giving out any financial info I don't have to.

You're asking the lender to lend you a LARGE amount of money, and it's only natural that the lender wants assurances that you are a good risk. They want to know that you have the ability to pay back the money they are loaning you. Having a healthy savings account tells the bank that you have the money needed to pay the mortgage payment and to take care of the home you propose to buy.

I have always had to provide bank info to mortgage people. I just had to LOL at your screen name, considering your post
