Do Dr.s really HAVE TO give/show us an insert?

Are they really required to do this by LAW? I don't know a single doctor who does so.

If they really ARE required to do that by law, I feel like making a big stink since the doctor never showed it to us when my son was receiving vaccines.

They don't have to give/show you the PI but they do have to give out the VIS.

Any idea what I can possibly do due to not being given VISs in 2005 (my son received 3 sets of DtaP, HIB and PCV). What are my rights?

It said that VISs need to be recorded in medical records. Do you think they'd put it in there automatically even though they never gave it to me?

I do believe the lot and batch number need to be recorded with the vaccine.

My question is if anyone knows what are my rights (what can I do NOW, three years later) if I was never given VISs. Also since they need to be recorded, does anyone know if they just put it in the record (as if they did give me the VISs) automatically?

I would think there would be a statute of limitations on something like that. In CA, the law is two years for any civil liability. It would be largely a procedural issue since, praise G-d, your children are fine, and there is "no harm done", as far as anyone knows. I would get their records if you have any questions, and consult an attorney if you have any questions.

I think you can complain to their licensing or governing board or the CO equivalent of the Board of Medical Quality Assurance.

I think in some states, your children can sue if they were injured until they are 19.

I don't know that it would really be worth the effort. It really depends on the practice. Some places the VIS date is listed on the consent form you sign each time, some places you just sign once for the series & they dont have to give it out each time. Just depends really. I would think it would be pretty much your word against theirs.

I do understand your anxiety over being largely ignored and run through the system.

But your children are healthy and that is what matters.
