Ok in a perfect world, Mothering would have a kids version. However...they don't (yet), so does anyone know of crunchy type kids magazines?

For pre-teen girls I love NEW MOON. It's a very cool magazine!

Subbing...

Not sure if they are crunchy, but we get Ranger Rick and My Big Back Yard- I like their Green leanings.

I should have clarified, I'm such a dork LOL

We already get RR & BBY (LOVE them!)

And it's for 7yoDD...so she's (thankfully) not ready for teen mags yet

I think New Moon is a great magazine for girls. Depending on the physical/emotional maturity of the child, I would see it being for ages about 8-14.

I know the OP's child is older than the target age group, but we have a subscription to High Five (a younger kid's version of Highlights) and it is wonderful. It is very gentle, with a good mix of perspectives and something for all areas of development, like social, emotional, cognition. It has healthy recipes, simple crafts and stories. A very, very sweet magazine, my son loves it.

We're also enjoying High Five here. DD1 is 3. This thread is a great idea though. I've not really put much thought into when she gets older.
