As one who has to return to work... blech! lol I ventured into my first pumping experience today. I only did one side after DD finished eating from one side...

My very first time pumping I got 2 ounces!! : And it wasn't first in the morning either. I am so happy and proud of my milk. lol

I'm working on getting some set aside myself. I never liked pumping with DD, but so glad to have a pump and be able to still BF my DD!

I know how awesome that feels and how proud I felt too. Wishing you many more ounces!

lol! Today I pumped (its not my first time, I have quite a few ounces in the freezer already...) one side and got 5oz!!!! I couldn't believe it! It wasn't first thing in the morning, Lincoln had eaten from that side about 3.5 hours before (he eats every 3-4 hours...his schedule not mine) and had just finished off the other side.

I'm wondering if that means he's getting 5oz when he takes one breast, or what?? He's not even 3 weeks old!!

Yay for successful pumping. I had to go back at 5 weeks pp with my first. I had to pump 4 times a day for months and months to keep the daycare stocked. I remember the first time I got more than 10 ounces in one go. It was awesome. That was both sides, btw. I don't plan to pump anything for this baby. After the twins, I have learned there is no place I want/need to go for more than 30 minutes that I can't take a nursling to as well.

So, just a question about pumping - do you find that you have enough milk to pump and nurse? My ds has to nurse every hour it seems, so I'm worried about draining one breast and not having enough to nurse him later. I guess your milk supply just catches up?

Katmann... right now DD only ever has fed on one breast at a time, so I just pump the other breast once she is done. I read that tip in one of the books that came with the pump. She sometimes eats every hour too, so I couldn't pump both an hour after the first feeding which was recommended, I had the same worry you did.

But yes... your supply will adjust as well.

So far pumping the other side after feeding on the other is going well... granted I'm only a day and a half in on this. lol :
