OK, THEY FINALLY CALLED!

my number is 1,220. she asked if it was my first bloodwork and i said yes, and she said, "wow, that's a great number for your first bloodwork" :

they are making me come in again on friday for another bloodtest and then if the number continues to go up, it's next wednesday for an ultrasound.

oh my god!

ok, had my second bloodtest today - new number 2,910 - again, they said that's a good number. i'm currently 22 DPO. the beta chart posted on the first page has the 22 DPO average at 1,688 so i guess it's good that i'm higher than that.

but, i'm all confused again. do i just have bad math skills or i'm just not understanding what they mean when it's supposed to double? on tuesday the number was 1,220. i was told that it should double every day - so doesn't that mean it should now be like, 9,760?

tues - 1,220
wed - 2,440
thurs - 4,880
fri - 9,760

kwim?

but, the nurse said, oh, it's good, it's doubled, almost tripled. so, yes, it's gone up 2.39 times (2,910 / 1,220). oh, i'm rambling and confuzzled.

when i questioned the number she said - everyone is different. don't freak out, it's a good number.

so, now on to the sac check ultrasound next week.

No, I believe it's supposed to double in 48 hours, not every day. And I vaguely remember that the doubling time also varies by what the levels are (so that it's not uniformly 48 hours across the board). Your numbers sound good to me.

Julie - those are good numbers too! :

and, i did finally look it up - so it looks like i am in the normal range.

Quote:
In about 85% of normal pregnancies, the hCG level will double every 48 - 72 hours. As you get further along in pregnancy and the hCG level gets higher, the time it takes to double can increase to about every 96 hours.

The first 2 weeks of pregnancy are the typically 14 days between AF and O. So you're already '2 weeks' on the day you O.

oh, i understand that the doctor's offices calculate it that way -but what i'm saying is, it makes no sense. you can't get preggers before you O.

i suppose that the majority of folks who are getting pregnant might not know their exact O date like those of us who are charting so it's just easier to go back to the last period date vs trying to get them to figure out what day they might have O'd, but, still, for me, when i know the date it's hard for me to wrap my head around a different date than the one i know is correct just because it's easier for the doctors and nurses.
