I discovered a bookstore I had never been in today and came home with a great deal! I bought
Don Quixote
A Golden Compass
A subtle Knife
An Amber Spyglass

all for less than $8.00!!!!

For years, I looked in used book stores for a favourite children's storybook. My sibling had taken the copy we all shared when we were younger. With the advent of ebay, alibris etc., I looked on-line, only to discover it was considered a collectible, and prices were often over $100. I just couldn't justify it for a book that was probably in poor condition (as well-loved children's books often are).

Last year, on a dreary Saturday, waiting for an appointment, I was killing time in the Rozelle market in Sydney. The vendors have tables full of vintage clothes, antiques, and flea market stuff. I looked down - and there it was! My childhood favourite! For $5.00 (Australian, no less - so it was a really good deal!). I didn't let go of it for hours, LOL!

Wicked

YEA! Cost me $30.

Oh, Ms Apricot, how exciting! I can relate.

I had my favorite record (Cabbage Patch Kids ) broken by my brother when I was 7. I BAWLED for months. When my mother and I were at a flea market, about 15 years later, she found it in a huge sack of records for a quarter. I don't have a record player and have yet to listen to it (that was about 7 years ago) but just knowing I have it is good enough. Sometimes i walk into the garage just to stare at it.

ooh - i just finished the Dark Materials books and really enjoyed them. what a great find!!

there's a new used bookstore that just opened up and i'm hoping to find some gems. they buy books, and i've got a nice big bag full i'm hoping to get some trade value out of
