My daughter is 6 y/o and in Kindergarten. She loves to draw. She is very creative and I love that about her because I am the exact opposite, very type A.

Whenever she draws girls in her pictures, they always have a tiny mouth/smile. I asked her about it before and she said it looked cute, so I thought that was fine.

Recently at school, they did life size self portraits. A classmate traced her body and then she filled it in. Her facial features are in proportion, except for her mouth. Normal size head, normal size eyes, button nose, and a teeny tiny smile. I was looking at the other kids drawings and they have HUGE goofy smiles on their faces. But my little girl doesn't.

She is sensitive and lately seems sad, discouraged. I don't know if it is guilt from my end - knowing that I have been stressed out at home, etc. Or if there really is something showing up in her drawings.

Any ideas on this? Such a weird question, but it is concerning me.

I would ask her teacher, but she doesn't seem that in tune with the kids, and that is a whole 'nother can of worms.
