Shipping prices with Ikea? - Page 2

Luckily some of their prices are so good, it's still worth it. My Ektorp 3 seater sofa was $399 I think...shipping was $300 for all the furniture but because the furniture is so reasonably priced it was still worth it.

We got the Klippan love seat. it seats 3 smaller people. I got 2 at 279 each and the shipping was 193 $. DF wanted to rent a uhual, but that would be a such a pain... I just figured let them bring them here and lug em up the stairs!

Can I derail this thread for a second to ask: For those of you who have the Ektorp sofa, how do you like it? I really want one, but would rather hear some experiences first. Feel free to send them in PMs if you'd rather not drag this thread too off-topic.

To the OP: I think that you and your DH could do fine sending him up there if you went to the Ikea website and got their catalog and just talked through everything on the phone while you had the catalog in hand so you can make sure to get everything you're looking for. The Ikea staff is generally pretty helpful, too.

Feel free to answer here as I am eyeing this couch myself.

Some stores offer delivery of items which may be cheaper than having something shipped. Our closest Ikea is 3 hours away, and will deliver up to 10 boxes (I think a sofa counts as 3 boxes or something) for around $100. We went there, bought all the large stuff we wanted (bed, dresser, shelves, some other stuff), and then went over to the delivery area and paid them and it was delivered a week and a half later to our place. We also sometimes just rent a van though, cause that costs us about the same.

Went to Ikea yesterday in hopes of picking up a bed for DS. Like usual they didn't have it in stock and actually said they don't make it in full which is untrue. I've gone to our Ikea numerous times and they never end up having the products I choose. When I called I either could not get a person to help me or they said they had it but didn't when I got there. Today I was going to order over the phone and they were going to chg me $177 for a $149 bed!! Don't get me wrong I have an entire bedroom suite from them and had it shipped but I don't remember it being that much. I think its worth it if you buy alot or the shipping is outrageous. Trying to decide what to do now. May have to get another bed but who knows if they will have it when we get to the store?? :

A thread where we were discussing the Ektorp stuff. I really like mine, I've had a few complaints but I'd totally buy it again. At the time, the sofa in white was $399 but I think I saw it's up to $499 now? I bought mine in 2007.
