Smaller than a size 8? Um --- no thank you.

That's IT! I've GOT to pick up my needles again, no excuses. I'm done with pretending that I want to knit small, cute stuff and I'm going to admit right now that if it's smaller than a size 8 I don't even want to consider it. So where do I find chunkier patterns for kids?

gah... i hear ya!

my husband found a fair isle skull hat that he loves... and i'm slogging through it with size 1 needles and light fingering yarn.

this thing has as many stitches as a sweater. it makes me want to impale myself with the toothpicks i'm using to knit with

you can search ravelry.com for free patterns based on needle size

The Yarn Girls books have some cute patterns, including a few extra chunky ones - iirc size 15's for a quick sweater I did for dd.

i agree with ravelry too. My list on there is getting longer & longer!

Try Joseph I wouldn't say it was too girly...

I am making this right now for my daughter and it uses 15 needles. I had to a a few stitches because she is a size 4, but it is working up pretty quick.

I second Yarn Girls Guide to Knits for Older Kids. I would say that size 8 and up is just about all you'd find in there. Check it out!
