Tax dependent question

DD was born this year, Jan 6th. Therefor she shouldn't have anything to do with 2008 taxes, right?

Also, Morrigan was born in 2007 but didn't have a SSN until 2008. Can we somehow get the child tax credit for 2007?

My understanding is the child has to be born in the year you are filing taxes for, so your dd who was just born Jan 09 cannot be claimed until next year. You can however amend your taxes for 2007 to include the child who did not have a ss#. I did this one year for the exact reason it was really easy search the irs website for amending tax return. The IRS took about 8 weeks to send me the additional refund and they included interest.
