stitches STILL hurting?

I'll be 3 weeks pp tomorrow, and my stitches stopped hurting a few days ago mostly, but then today they started hurting again....bad enough to make me cry any time I try to move. They still look ok - although I think I'm going to look more like the grand canyon than anything else for good - they definitely aren't infected, and they aren't swollen hardly at all.

What is going on? I HATE being unable to do anything, and I already have to go back to the midwife to get some stitches that healed wrong taken care of.

How long do stitches take to heal? I'm still doing sitz baths, and b/c I'm a bug wuss I still use the squirt bottle they gave me to clean up after I go to the bathroom b/c I'm afraid to wipe using tp. Is there anything else I should be doing?

You could try putting goldenseal on the stitches. You can buy them in capsule form or if you have an herb store you can buy it bulk in powder form.

Another thing is doing an herbal sitz bath. Here is a thread that might help.

I'll try the herbal sitz bath, but I'm too afraid to touch my stitches to put anything on them. I haven't even really looked at them, since I don't have any on the skin, I think most of them are internal since I can't see them, and I haven't dug deep enough to see them. I'll admit I'm kind of afraid to - its all so sore that I really don't want to inflict even more pain on myself

Yeah, don't do "digging" for them, that won't be good.

I was very afraid to look but, I did and now I know exactly what happened down there and know the best position for me to sit

Do the herbal baths and it should heal soon. Sorry you are still so uncomfortable
