The gas discount was through my grocery store card. Every $100 purchase, during the certain period, you accrue 10 cents off. And there are the occasional special purchases that give you extra points. So we got up to $1.50 off one tank.
I did actually save a couple hundred on the root canal. I don't have dental insurance but I signed up for a payment plan through dentalplans.com which my dentist accepts. I forget what that was, maybe $100 per year, which quickly pays for itself if you need work done and would otherwise be paying out of pocket.
