Don't you all hate comparisons when they use this is more worse than a simple ole foreskin ?

I have heard of people wondering why do people get so worked up over a foreskin when they talk about parents smoking while pregnant, drinking while pregnant, etc

A parent realizes when she smokes, takes drugs or drinks she's harming her child - she could say no but the child can't say no and gets to live with consquence.

So then here a parent doesn't have to circ but can say No but rather put there child through surgery for no reason and he gets to suffer the consquence of harm that comes with it !

So I'm like it's the same because it both harms the baby and the baby gets No Say In the Matter you know ?

But the Only difference is that the boy gets a body part taken away more and all our skin deserve much respect especially the private part of our skin !

But it turns out mailboxes have more dignity than a male foreskin now don't you consider that bad ?

Yes, and this is merely a debate tactic, but not easy to win against.

The general way it goes that I have experienced, is that I bring up the reasons against RIC, then they shift the argument to comparing RIC to much preater evils that someone should be concerned about, such as world hunger, child abuse, etc. The tactic works because it changes the subject from making a well thought out decision about RIC to comparing RIC to some other percieved evil. And usually they also do it in a way that makes it sound like you have a foreskin fetish, which adds the character assination aspect to the mix.

I think the strategy is to bring back the conversation to the topic under discussion. I try and do this by restating the topic and asking if they wish to change topics or stay on topic: "OK, you seem to be changing the subject to comparing the relative evile so RIC vs __________, rather than continuing on the subject of the advantages vs dissadvantages of RIC. Ddi you mean to do that?"

But it if they reaaly do not want to have an informed discussion, but merely want to win their debate points, you really will have a tough time.

Very frustrating, but I think you just have to realize that there are people out there who let emotion and their feelings make their decisions and who are good at debate, but not reasoned arguments. Shrug.

Regards

It's just a way to make you look obsessed and to change the subject. I've made a point to make it clear that we are discussing circumcision (hence why I'm talking about it ) and when we are done we can discuss xyz. repeat as needed.

I always chuckle when I hear "foreskin complication" It's funny b/c all mamals have foreskins and don't suffer the same "complications" as American foreskins. LOL American foreskins are nothing but trouble... (or maybe just American doctors)

All parents have the power to stop circumcision by saying no.I don't know anyone that can stop world hunger or cancer by saying no.

So true! That should even include the doctors besides if doctor said No to parents refused to do it that's how it decreased in canada .

Doctors and Parents both have to say No! That will surely stop circ indeed.

That's all they have to say is we say no it's too risky!

If doctors said it's starting to become too risky to perform it parents are not gonna RISK putting their lil babies through some procedure if a Doctor Would Say No It will Harm Your Son.

I agree. Personally I don't see how a normal healthy part can have "complications" You don't talk about other body parts that way..
