We subscribe to the email list, and just got the annoucement yesterday evening. I was coming to post it after checking my email, but I see you beat me to it.

Well thank goodness!! It's not a fix to the situation but maybe they'll use this time to rework the law while not putting people out of business in the process!

According to the email, that's the idea. Everyone must still meet the safety standard, like no lead paint, and limits on phalates, but the high cost testing isn't being required.

They issued suggestions about what to look out for in crafting materials that might contain lead or phalates. For lead they cautioned about things like zippers and buttons. For phalates they cautioned about being careful of vinyl and other soft plastics.
