vaccine effectiveness

I disagree with the misrepresentation of vaccine effectiveness. When a vaccine doesn't work, instead of calculating it into vaccine effectiveness, it is categorized as a "vaccine failure"? (if I'm reading all these article right, they always make a point to say "the vaccine failed" instead of referring to its failure rate in terms of effectiveness)

Even if it is case of the "vaccine failing", failure to work for anything else would factor into how effective the product is. why not the same for vaccines? simply because then the numbers wouldn't support their cause.

Using my uncle's comparison of mattresses and vaccines - if they said "sealy's mattresses make 99% of our customers happy" but only 60% of their customers were happy, would it be okay for them to say that 39% of their customer's mattresses just "failed" so "they don't count" towards their customer's satisfaction rate?\

(at first it was seat belts - then he asked me if I research my mattresses and cars before buying them... um, DUH? asking if they sold me a mattress without me first getting unbiased opinions from someone other then the salesperson - telling me that is how everything works - people want to sell at any cost - which I think SUPPORTS my feelings about vaccines and the economical view... I am really unsure how he thought he was getting somewhere to support vaccines with his thinking??)

Wow...your Uncle is one confused dude!!!

I see your point about effectiveness. Not sure why they use the term failure or if those numbers are factored in when they report an overall effectiveness for their product.

The reason may be that when they talk about whether a vaccine is effective or not, they are talking about whether they created a certain level of antibody, not whether they stop someone from getting the disease. They want people to believe they are talking about how many people will get the disease, but they aren't. They have no way of knowing the real effectiveness of the vaccine and there are no studies to show this.

I would never compare vaccines with mattresses.

What do they have in common? Nothing!
