Mainstream Slings - opinion on this one?

Someone gave me this sling, and having no baby to try in it, I thought I would ask you all's opinion.

It is a Boppy Carry in Comfort Dual support sling

I am not sure if I will keep it or trade it in for something else I want from BRU, especially since (as posted below) I am really thinking I would like a Hotsling and a Moby-D wrap.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I think there are other slings that are much more versatile than this one. But that's just my opinion.

At the bottom of the page there was a link to this

http://www.toysrus.com/product/index...ductId=3188792

that had me snorting. Germ Free Protection!

OMG seriously??

This is why I'm not allowed to read mainstream stuff...I have no ability to take it seriously LOLOL! Some of the stuff they try to get people to buy is just NUTS!

But, back to the sling...I think it'd work, and it looks comfy, but I like a wrap for newborns anyways, and it doesn't look like it would grow with baby?

It does not look like it is a good position for baby. You don't want your baby just thrown on like a purse. I say a ring sling or moby. Both are fantastic for nb.

That's an odd looking sling - looks like she's trying to strangle herself with a hobo bag... I'd return it and get what you really want

yeah, i'd return it. even if it works OK for a newborn, it's definitely not going to be versatile or be something you could use as the baby gets bigger. and not all babies like a cradle carry, which is the only carry that sling does.

i personally like a ring sling best for newborns, though a stretchy wrap is nice if you don't have gigantic babies like mine that are too heavy after 2 months

It looks like it'd be dangerous tbh. The baby would have a hard time breathing, it would force it's head down into it's chest....just doesn't look safe. I'd really worry about the baby being able to breathe in it.

ok, I had one of these things, and it's not terrible, but I wouldn't recommend it. I couldn't get it high enough, even tightened all the way, and for cradle carry, you can only do head on the shoulder side, which sometimes caused head-on-chest problems on me. This is all cause I'm kind of small I think. Seemed to work ok on my DH though.

It looks like a purse. Which just adds to the theory that babies are just accessories. And it doesn't show how the baby fits in it. I'm not sure how long it would last either.

I haven't used this sling, but my DD hated to be carried in our ring sling in the cradle position. She always wanted to be upright against my chest/shoulder. This sling would have been no use to us whatsoever.

I'll echo others who've said that it just doesn't look very versitile.

Trade it in.

You would be WAY better off with a Moby or Hotsling. If you look into it further, you will find that there are some serious safety concerns about the Boppy (and all bag slings).

It's like a purse. For a baby.

Bag slings scare me. I would worry about cutting of the baby's breathing.
