Has anyone seen Underworld?

We just got back from seeing Underworld (the newest one) and I am so confused. This was a prequel, right?

We see these movies mostly because Mike likes them and the kids think the vampires/werewolves are cool to watch . . . but I hate leaving a movie feeling confused. I definitely feel like I missed something this time!

Love the first Underworld movie-second one's ok, can't wait to see the third.
