Queer TTC February 2009 - Page 3

Gotta question - is it worth taking vitex if I'm probably going to do stimulated IUIs? I started vitex last week (CD1) but I'm not sure whether to keep it up. I don't know for certain that I'm going to go for a medicated IUI for the first attempt, but it's so expensive anyways that I sort of think I might as well go for it and maximise my chances.

Oh, and another embarrasingly stupid question - so if I know I'm doing IUI's, how much does EWCM matter other than predicting when I'm going to O? Do I need to be taking as many things (EPO, robitussin, etc) as if I was inseming at home?

knittinanny, as far as i know ewcm is not a factor when doing iuis becaue the sperm is deposited inside the uterus thereby bypassing the cervix area altogether.

lemurmommies, many hugs to you!

papa, i hope those are bfp symptoms, fx!!

katherine, good luck in your tww!

carmen, i'm sure o is just around the corner.

pookafaye, that's very exciting, yay.

afu, yesterday dp heard back from her endo. he said the drop to 100mg of synthroid was fine and said that was considered a low dosage. he also recommended getting free t4 tested for next time and that would give him a better indication of how dp's thyroid was behaving. dp forgot to ask if it was possible her thyroid was going hyperthyroid because of her hashimoto's condition so we are still at a loss as to why her tsh was so low. we are 12dpo today and dp's basal temps have started their slow decline. i'm thinking sunday af will be here. then we can schedule her hysteroscopy and polypectomy and at least be ready for trying in march if her thyroid cooperates!

Knittinanny - I'm with Indigo - I don't think it matters for IUIs. Talk to your doctor about Vitex. I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to take it with Clomid, I don't know about the rest.

I don't know what you have in mind as far as medication goes, but you're doing a trigger shot, you'll want to take some sort of progesterone during the 2WW, so the vitex is kind of redundant, since the meds will be doing all the same things for you.

Indigo - C'mon, MARCH!!!!

AFM - Day 4 of ewcm this morning, so I took an OPK.

Positive. Not close to positive, but positive. I also feel this weird heaviness in my lower abdomen, which is somewhat reminiscent of being on Clomid right before I Oed.

Should I inseminate again?

The OB told me it's pretty unlikely to get a + OPK and not ovulate, so I'm wondering if these are pregnancy symptoms and I really am 6/7 DPO, or if these are ovulation symptoms and I'm O - 1 or on O day.

GIVE ME SOME INPUT!!! Er, please! Please give me some input!

(For the record - my head says inseminate again, just in case. My gut says it worked and I'm pregnant.)

Inseminate again, Papa! Even if it's just for insurance purposes.

Do it tonight!

good luck,
megin

I'd inseminate again!

OPKs can work as HPTs but usually not until 2 or 3 weeks post-O.

Catch the egg! :

Yeah, I thought of that, but it seemed too early, because I thought OPKs would give a + the same day as HPTs.

Damn body! This cycle is SO LONG! Oing on CD 31 is a set-up for a 45 day cycle!

Yep, I'd insem again just for safety! Benefit of KD...if he is willing, go for it!

EWCM today!! Yay! Insem'ing tonight!

Indigo, I hope all your testing is soon over (well, except for preg testing ) and you are on your way for a March try! Your dp sounds like she is getting a real work up, hope she's holding up well too!
papa, definitely insem again! if kd is willing go for it tonight.

carmen, yay i knew you'd get there eventually. yes, dp is holding up ok. she is very tired we think from the thyroid wackiness but other than that in pretty good spirits. it definitely helps that we have a toddler to distract us; that and he's incredibly cute. i think i've been more emotional about the delays but she's normally a laid-back person anyways. i realised today that it's been 8 months+ since we started with all her pre-ttc testing! we're hoping for march but are preparing to wait until april or may if we have to.

i'm about ready to see a new round of bfps on here to keep my spirits up! good luck to everyone!

Well, even if you are pregnant, there's no harm in inseminating again. And if you're not, you might catch the egg. The cycle that I got pregnant with E I inseminated once after I thought I was already pregnant. But it was still only CD 14, so I went ahead and did it anyhow.

Did it!

It is royally SUCKTASTIC to start the 2ww over again! By a whole week!

I'm cheering myself up by promising to test a week from today, which will be the original 14 DPO.

I guess we'll see which is was based on when my next cycle starts or when I get that BFP!

We'll be doing another round tomorrow, just in case.

Donor boy is a frealin' sperm machine - I got 4 cc today, even though he was off duty, and had orgasmed yesterday.

Yay! Me too! There must be something in the air because our amount seemed to double as well! We will also go again tonight and possibly Friday if necessary too. I have a feeling I'll O Friday or Saturday.

I think there are a few of us in the 2WW right? Katherine and I thought there was someone else as well?

Pleasantlyfurious has about 6 days left in her 2ww - the same for Papa's first possible O. : : (one for each of you)

Katharinerose just insemed Monday so she's just begun the wait as well. :

I'm still here obsessively tracking my temp & poas making sure I don't have to head home early to insem from my current trip. At least when I poas in a bit it will confirm that I won't O before the sperm arrives at the Dr.

Still on track to O Mon/Tues :

thanks pookafaye

FTMpapa - you have all your bases covered. I can't wait to hear about your BFP.

lemurmommies -

I'm at 8 DPO and I tested this morning with a BFN. I know, I know, it's early. It's really a cruel joke that fearing/realizing you aren't pregnant comes at the same time as PMS. I'm testing again tomorrow even though it's still early, then on Saturday before I catch my flight out of the country.

PF, I will sheepishly admit that I am totally stalking your pee sticks, and hoping for a BFP announcement before you get on the plane.

Man, the internet is a funny thing...

Oh yeah! Sorry, pf!! You will heading off to Korea with a BFP! I remember now
post #57 of 282
Fingers totally crossed for you, PF. Hope you get good news soon!!!

Thanks you guys. Your messages of encouragement really made me feel better. I've been having an emotional day and was bummed about my ridiculously early BFN - but you guys cheered me up. The internet is a funny thing.

I'm hating opks again. I know I hate them. I've never had a good relationship with them. I think only twice in my life have I ever gotten a positive. I try at 11am, 2pm, 5pm, it doesn't seem to matter what time. This cycle, it was darker 2 days ago than it is today! Nowhere close to positive though. I really find them distressing and should probably not use them at all. I only have one left in the house...I don't think I'll buy more. They make me want to cry.

Oh, and I had basically no ewcm to speak of today. That has happened in the past however. One day on, one day off, two days on. Hoping that's what's happening.

Sorry for all the whining.

You insemmed already, right Carmen?

Is it possible you Oed, or are your ovaries doing what mine are - get ready to O and then not?

I hate waiting for a surge on my OPKs, too. Totally get you on that account. I don't use OPKs every month, last month I just went with CM, because I figure an OPK with no CM means I might O, but the sperm won't get there.

Hopefully you're done with OPKs! I say, keep insemming this cycle, see what happens. Maybe you won't need anymore OPKs for the next nine months!

My CM is gone, too, so I'm hoping I Oed last night - I picked up some insurance from donor boy tonight, but I think it's just insurance.

I don't know how I feel - fellow former TTCers have suggested I'm showing classic signs of PCOS, what with three patches of EWCM this month. ARGH!!!
