So assuming dd or ds aren't vaxed and they catch the 'dreaded' M/M/R or any other VPD. How do I help reduce my own chances of acquiring the disease myself since I was vaxed as a child and haven't had a booster since, oh, 1992? (and my various drs. all say "get a booster b/c such and such vax is proving to lose it's lifelong immunity") I'm just wondering since I hope my kids will develop a natural immunity, but since most VPD's are worse for adults, what do my dh and I need to do to keep our chances of infection low?

Wow, they thought it had lifelong immunity? Sorry, that part just kind of jumped off the page at me.
I can't tell you what to do. I plan to megadose on vitamin C only if I catch them too, but I actually want to get them...better late than later... Worse doesn't necessarily mean you'll die. Just means there's a greater chance of complications and general misery. I think vitamin C will be enough for me.

I've read CLO is great for helping the immune system, and also Vit A if you have anything rashy like measles or CP.
I have thought of this myself, too since I was vaxed for M-M-R as a child. I've had CP naturally twice, DH doesn't think he has had it. He said if he gets it when DS gets it he will just deal with it.
Here's a couple links, I have more if you are thinking of something specific:

i guess you just need to keep your immune system strong.
Also, as others have said things like CLO and vitamin c are huge immune system boosters. I also personallly swear by Coconut oil and Apple Cider Vinegar.
18 mo old DS has had a tsp of coconut oil daily since he was 6 months old and he has only had one little 2 day sniffle. That's it. (also BF) Now he's up to 2 tsp a day.
I take 4 tbs a day and it really is a miracle worker.

He doesn't tolerate the ACV but I try to sneak it inot juice every now and then...not all that successfully. It works best in regular apple cider.
The coconut oil I began when DS began solids. It helped his gut adjust and helped him not get constipated. Now he just thinks it's part of the morning routine and comes running over for his spoonful.
