Trying to take in a long sleeve tee shirt...

I pinned along the side and up the arm and I turned it inside out to see how that looks and it is all bunched up. I took in a t shirt for DP recently and in the armpit area it looks bunchy, I feel like am being careful when I pin and I ironed the first one but still got the bunches.

Any advice on what I can do to make this shirt smaller and fit nice, it has a very nice batik tree design on it, but its an XL and I wear M.

Knits are hard to sew because they stretch so easily. Honestly, I just don't like them. You can use a tear-away stabilizer for the seam and that may help.
