Can I toot my frugal grocery shopping horn?

So I loaded up DS on my back, grabbed my grocery bags and took the bus to the grocery store today (no easy feat in itself). I stuck to my list except for a lined rain jacket on clearance for $5 (woo hoo!) and only shopped the sales and loss leaders and only for things that I would actually use. I ended up stocking my freezer and pantry with so many things that we will actually use for meals!

I got boneless skinless chicken breasts for $1.49/pound, BOGO plus a $3 off coupon on granola bars (for DS's snacks), BOG2 on blueberries, BOGO on blackberries, chicken broth, whole grain bread, BOG2 on frozen cheese ravioli, BOGO on bacon, and so many more great deals! It came to a grand total of $145.77 and then when the coupons and card savings came off, it came down to $73.96!!! ::: I have never saved 50% on groceries! I am in shock!!!

Just feeling like I am a super strong, financially capable single mama today! Yippee!

That is terrific. For me, there was something very life changing about breaking the 50%-off-retail point.

Congrats!

Doesn't that just feel so good? I love it when I can save that much. I am pretty much consistently at 45-50% off on retail grocery items. Now I am thinking about doing a low shop challenge for milk and produce only this month, we are stocked to the hilt, but that's great because we need to save even more since I found out I am pg. Gotta save more, so we can buy our new car next winter.

It was at Price Chopper if anyone has one of those around. I think they are pretty much only in the Northeast though. I am headed to Shaws on Wednesday to finish up my big grocery trips for the month. I am only shopping the sales there too. Yippee!!!! I will have a fully stocked pantry again!!!
