Yeah. It's frustrating. I'm just not buying peanut stuff at all right now. Except peanut butter

And GS cookies! Cause they released their supplier.

I have only had one person ask me about that too.

I'm trying to convince Cliff to send me to Breitenbush for a mother's day present, and it would be just me and the girls going... can anyone who has been there tell me whether I should do the cabin since I have the kids, or is the lodge room better with the community feel? I'm trying to figure out how much it's actually going to cost and whether it's worth spending that amount at this time. I'm somewhat concerned about the bedding situation as well... can you get anything wider than a twin outside a cabin? I guess I could call Breitenbush, but I'd like a mama's opinion if I can get one!

We don't do much peanut stuff anyway, since I've been making a point of using other nuts, like almonds, pecans, filberts, cashews, walnuts.

Leslie,

DO you know anything about these informational meetings at Lewis and Clark? It says you have to attend one on their website and it says the dates will be posted when available, but I cant find a date posted for one. The application is due on the 15th too.

Also, do you have any insider information about if they are getting a huge response or not? Just wondering what DD's chances are.

I had a meeting with her preschool teacher yesterday. DD has aced everything on their list. EVERYTHING. The only thing she has as "developing" as opposed to mastered is developing reading skills, but that is because they don't practice this enough at school for the teacher to see that DD can almost read. Anyway.. she told me she is concerned for DD in K. She thinks she would be too bored. That she might be able to test up to 1st grade, but then she might miss out on other things. So no matter how much of a PIA this is going to be for me.. I think the Lewis and Clark school will be the best fit for DD right now. Cause if she is reading on the first day of K, they wont make her sit there and learn her alphabet anyways. Ya know?

Oh yea.. I was also told that the K at Elizabeth's school this year has 4 ADHD children in the morning class, and 18 ESL students in the afternoon class. And while I am all for mainstreaming, this would just slow the learning process down even further for DD. And class size is about 30.

my dad bought me GS cookies....$48 worth sometimes parents just know what a kid needs eh? it's the best present I have received in a long time.
He said "i know you have been stressed lately and lonely..I also know you have been working hard and you deserve a treat..make it last till next year"
I have 12 boxes. That's one a month....I thought he was trying to make me more fat than I already was.
Atleast he bought my FAVORITE kinds..thin mint, samoas, and tagalongs.
: it made my day...kinda better than having a box of chocolates.

Wow, I'm so amazed at what a difference a half an hour nap can make. Crazy! I wonder why I hate them so much.

I think I only got about 5 minutes of actual "out" time, I was half awake for the rest. But, it turned out to be a false revival, I became exhausted again after 30 minutes. It's the cold.

I love Breitenbush! That sounds like a real treat. I've stayed in a cabin once, and loved it. Never stayed at the lodge. If I were to go back with Jake, I'd definitely rent a cabin again. The cabin had one double bed and twin sized bunk beds.

Dang. Ryan took off so I could have that nap. I got up at 3 and he's still gone. No way we'll make it to airplay now. No wonder I hate naps. effers.

Also, I missed a whole bunch of posts while I was napping earlier. Double-eff.

Laura, I love breitenbush too, something fierce. But we stayed in the tent type things and brought sleeping bags. Which, I think is my favorite way to go generally anyway, but especially because then the bed is however big you want to make it. They do provide pads which would cover the area of a king bed.

Tina, I believe there's been a lot of interest. I'm not sure though how many people have turned in apps. I can ask on Monday when I go in. As far as being in a different room besides kg, I think there was a kger who was moved into Carson's room or goes back and forth between rooms. Also I believe there are a couple of kgers who read and are still in the kg room, don't quote me though.

as for the info meeting, the open house would work as the info meeting for you.

Awesome!

I will turn in my app on Tuesday when I take Bre to ballet.

Also since this is a lottery do they just randomly draw names? DH thinks I should get a letter from her preschool teacher... I think it wont really make a difference if it is a true lottery. He wants her to be accepted though.

I believe it's a true lottery. Those enrolled are in, siblings of those enrolled are then accepted, then I believe it's in district lottery, and if there's space out of district lottery. But it could be just a big lottery. I can find out for sure on Monday.

Yes please. Because we are out of district, which would mean, we are on the last totem pole. I don't want to have to home school DD cause she would really really benefit from school.

I think it depends on if their charter is with the state or the district. At SW Charter, it was from the state, so it was one big lottery for everyone. I wish the Lewis & Clark charter was closer to me. It is awesome that we finally have a public Montessori. Maybe more will pop up.

Beginning January 1 applications for admission will be opened for the 2009-10 school year. March 15 is the deadline for phase 1 applications:

* Resident applicants (persons who live within GBSD boundary)will be placed in a pool for selection via a equitable lottery.
* Non-resident applicants will be placed in a pool and names will be selected for a waiting list pending the outcome of resident placements.
* Any unfilled slots will be passed along to the next phase
*
Unless there aren't very many people in district applying.. we are SOL. :
