DH was reading the birth plan I wrote out for him and he says he needs some help in this area.

I'm drawing a blank, my last births, well I didn't eat very healthy , a large stuffed crust meat lovers from Pizza Hut :
and

Pancakes and Sausage.

So what are you eating ?

I'm laughing at the large stuffed crust! I loved eating homemade chicken noodle soup after the birth. I'll probably make it again this time. I froze a ton of soups in advance (in single serving bowls) and just took one out when I went into labor. Then later I had some homemade mac and cheese...mmmmm. I froze that in advance too. Beef stew could be good too.

For a long time after I gave birth, I craved bacon and eggs and fruit smoothies. And Recharge. For meals though... soup, cheesy macaroni casseroles, and roasts with lots of vegetables.
Now I'm hungry...

i had no appetite after having dd. i did not know much about how to be healthy postpartum with dd1, so i ended up just not eating much the first few days. not too great for me! i wasn't breastfeeding at the time, so i figured it would be ok. this time i know that i need to be getting some nutrients for my body to heal well, so i plan to have some super healthy smoothie fixin's on hand incase my appetite is not there this time around either, and lots of fruit. fresh fruit is something i always seem to be able to eat. mmm.

I haven't given it much thought. I have some turkey and rice soup frozen, and my mom brought over her homemade chili and chicken and dumplings, so I have that in the freezer, as well.

I was so focused on lunch and dinner type foods for after my last one- I had a soup planned for the birth team and myself- I was not prepared for an 8am birth! Doughnuts were brought over by a friend, and I had some danish on hand. I think I didn't eat. I was on a birth high.

I pretty much always crave steak and potatoes.
All my other babies were born at the Birth Center so I had to prep the meal and bring it. I usually made meatloaf and mashed potatoes and froze it ahead of time in huge serving sizes. I did meatloaf instead of steak because it freezes better already cooked. This time we are planning to be at home, so I might just go buy a steak when I feel labor is starting and then we can grill it as soon as I want it. Throw some potatoes in the oven and just reheat when I'm ready. Something like that.

As for the pizza: With ds1 I couldn't stand meat for MONTHS. It made me hurl. Plus, EVERYTHING gave me heartburn. As soon as he was out, everything changed.
I WOLFED down that pizza ( ok dh did help). I was starving, I felt like I hadn't eaten in weeks. I had no food in me for over 24 hours. I had a 17 hour labor and I was hungry !
It felt great. We were 1 1/2 from home and it was 10 pm in a hospital, I didn't have alot of options

I figure I'll eat whatever someone will make for me... thats how I felt last time, at the hospital-based birth center... I wolfed down that hospital-cafeteria breakfast, yum yum.

I'm now on a GD diet and so I am also hoping to eat a big bowl of ice cream that day to celebrate being off it!

Well, seriously, I'll make sure we have plenty of good food, fruits, veggies, bread, cheese, eggs- easy stuff for someone to fix for me. I find it a little hard to plan ahead like that- I'm not due until late April- but even closer to the day, its not like you really know when you're going to have the baby. Who knows how long the labor will be, or what time of day, or really exactly who else will be there.

(and just to be safe, I already put the menu on the fridge for our neighborhood delicious pizza place, when I assemble the birth kit I plan to put an envelope with some money up there too...)

I had to have a pizza after DD2 was born as well. We will see what I feel like after this one comes out.

Chocolate birthday cake, I make in pre-labor and champagne! Although after DD's birth I had a little yogurt before I could dive into the cake.

I haven't thought about it, but a big breakfast or steak and potatoes sound great!

last time we had a platter of grapes, baguette, shaved ham, camembert & black olive tapenade (I'd made arrangements for my SIL to bring it over).

this time it'll be the middle of winter so I'm going to request a friend bring pea and ham soup with her homeade bread - yum!

Whatever sounds good to me after the birth. If I don't have it in the house, it's my mom and sister's job to go get it for me. It's one of those things that I usually don't know what I want until afterwards.

I do remember that with ds1 I had pasta, lots of pasta, with cheese. With ds2 I think I had pizza, but I wasn't hungry for a couple of hours.

Chinese food:.

We started a tradition with no 1, he was a 36 hr labor in a hospital, so no food :. After I was starving and my family went out and got me carry-out from P.F. Changs, my favorite super spicy chicken dish. So with no 2 I was at home and not starved, but when everyone came to see her they brought food for everyone from there. And they said they'd do it again this time!

With my first, I honestly don't remember eating much of anything, probably hospital food. With my 2nd and 3rd, I had rubio's lobster combo burrito. Mmm. as long as I deliver while rubio's is open, that is the plan once again.
