Making a "puddle pad" from a wool blanket

Does anyone have any hints on making a puddle pad from a wool blanket?? Do I just need to felt it and cut to size? The edges of the blanket are serged, so I'm guessing I need to do something with them too.

Any experience/help would be appreciated! Or any good ideas for what to do with the leftovers!

wash on hot to felt, cut to size. felt won't ravel or fray.

i lanolized mine too.

Depending on how much you have leftover, you could make a diaper soaker or wrap or it would be a great breast pad or mama pad backing if you use those things...

Will it be less itchy once felted and lanolized?? It's not super rough in its current state, but I wouldn't exactly call it soft.

maybe a little...but not much. my wool blankets that i've felted definitely arent soft enough to touch baby skin....I'm hoping to have enough to make a pad for the crib, one for my side of the bed in case of baby accidents or mama leaking. I like the idea of backing some cotton/flannel nursing pads w/ leftovers...might do that
