Bittersweet

My oldest is offically weaned. He weaned himself and although I am glad he did so before my next one is born, I still feel a little sad. I loved nursing and will miss that special time each night. The past few nights we have been snuggling up on the couch before bed and reading some stories to try to make up for it. They just grow up so fast .

I will know for our new baby that it makes my life and his life much easier to just let him wean himself instead of trying to make him do it. Noah literally just stopped asking for it before bed. I think it is almost better that way because I never knew when the last time was going to be or I would have cried the whole way through it (even though I remember the last time). When I got pregnant I was stressed about tandem nursing and tried to wean, but both my midwife and pediatrician told me not to and I am so glad that I listened to them.

Oh, congratulations! And, it is sad and happy at the same time, isn't it?

I think you're right that not knowing was a good thing. I knew we'd be done for weeks ahead of time and it was *really* stressful for both of us, even though it was right for both of us, too. Lots of tears from both.

That is wonderful how it worked out for you both so well. It's definitely a bittersweet time, though. ((hugs))
