My son dislikes Moby wrap? What can I use?

This may sound silly, but I really want to wear my 4 mo ds for all of the attachment benefits. The only problem is that he really is never happy in it. He used to sleep in it in the newborn hold but he just does not like to be in there when awake anymore. I want to take him on walks and out to places in the wrap but he is much happier in his stroller. He loves to be held...he just hates to be in the wrap.

(When I was a nanny, I wore the baby in the wrap ALL the time.)

Has anybody else had this problem? Did you find another carrier that worked for your baby?

Any ideas?

I would try different positions with him. My DS absolutely hated to be facing in, but was perfectly happy with sitting sideways. He also sat sideways in mei tais and soft structured carriers (like beco).

You could also try a different carrier if it is in your budget. Neither of my boys minded wrapping but the oldest hated ring slings and the youngest didn't care for mei tais.

A lot of babies also go through a stage at about four months where they do better facing out. You could try the Lotus carry on the Moby Website.

Thanks!

Is he old enough at four months for the hip hold? He does tolerate the lotus hold longer than any other. I think maybe it is the tightness he dislikes. Does the mei tei, ergo, bjorn etc. have the same squeezing effect?

Stupid question, but is he sweaty when he comes out? My DDs are little furnaces and never liked being wrapped as infants. Mei tais let in a little more air circulation.

You might want to try a mei tai or a woven. My son is about the same age and the Moby just got too confining for him (and he got too heavy). Woven wraps are more grippy, so you need fewer layers of fabric around them.

He can go in a hip hold so long as he has sufficient head and trunk control (one of my boys was ready at four months, the other wasn't )

I recently made an onbuhimo for my son, he is 10 months old. I wear him on my back in it and he loves it!

He is not too tight, it fits like as if he was getting a piggyback ride. He liked the ring sling, but after awhile hated being so tight against me.

Maybe your little might like to be on your back. Is he able to hold his head up on his own?
