Mamas who formula feed and do delayed/selective/no vax: What’s your regimen to boost immunity?

I realize this question has probably been asked before and I’ve tried searching the boards and can’t seem to find all the info I’m looking for. I wasn't sure where to start this thread and this may belong elsewhere.

I know you Mamas are a wealth of information as I’ve learned so much already from the boards.

Background:

My DD is 4.5 months old, formula fed (I am unable to bf and was heartbroken when I barely produced 1-2 oz of breast milk a day despite help) and is not in daycare (DH is SAHD). To date we have not given her a single vaccine, we’re still undecided and doing our research. Our FP is very easy going about delayed/selective/no vax, but he has highly recommended the HiB and DTAP vaccines (there are a few vaccines he does not recommend or does on a delayed schedule). At this point we still feel the vaxes do more harm, but we want to boost DD’s immunity and I feel we should be more cautious as DH has an autoimmune condition (alopecia areata universalis).

DD’s current regimen:

Baby’s Only Organic Formula
1/8th tsp of pharmaceutical grade/ultra refined fish oil
1 drop of 2000 IU Vitamin D (on days she doesn’t get sun exposure)

Since DD does not have the immunity boosting benefits of breast milk and after reading posts here I realize I should be even more concerned about giving DD vaccines because I don’t breastfeed. I’ve read here on the boards that you give your babies: sodium ascorbate, powdered colostrum and probiotics.

What I want to know is what kind of regimen do you have your baby on? What brands? Do you give just one supplement? A combination of a few? What dosages?

I appreciate any help/info!

You may want to consider reposting in the selective vaccination forum, you may get more answers in addition to those here.

those two threads are both on boosting immunity before vaccines; it's not exactly what you are asking but it might give you some ideas.

I'm curious as well. My son is on formula after I refused surgery for his tongue tie (no simple clip for him ) and I pumped as long as I could. But really, I don't worry about it being that much different than a BFing mama. Formula sucks, but its even more reason for me not to vaccinate and compromise his little immune system. Now that he is on foods I just keep pumping him full of veggies.

we don't use any supplements or anything really, even when the kids are nursing, except a vitamin. We use the Natrol brand because recently the FDA tested about 400 vitamins and only 4 brands were lead free and Natrol was one of those brands. It is sold at Whole foods around here but you can get it off amazon or even the company's web site.

Thanks for the links and the suggestion.

I'm in a similar situation but dd is older now (8months). I couldn't produce more than 1 oz due to a previous breast surgery and my supply dried up 2 weeks in. DH is a SAHD. DD is completely unvaxed.

I do your current regimine without the vitamin D but I also add 1/4 teaspoon of baby probiotics to one of her bottles once per day. I use cod liver oil instead of fish oil. There is a battle between Mercola and Weston Price Foundation on that topic due to the imbalance between vitamin A and Vitamin D so you should research it if you decide to use CLO. If you are around anyone sick you might want to consider SA (vitamin C) though I haven't used it yet with her but have fed her food with vitamin C since she started solids.

So far the only illness I know DD has some in contact with is pertussis (I just got over it) and she hasn't been sick yet.

She did get some breastmilk if I read correctly and she does have some benefit from that. Dont sell yourself short.

Anyway, I take my DD to a chiropractor because a well aligned spine can help the immune system.

I've been thinking of buying the SA to keep on hand. What kind of baby probiotics do you get?

Thanks Lydiah I squeezed out as much as I could for 6 weeks before I dried out.

We've only had her adjusted once since she was born but haven't brought her back. Hrm, time to make an appointment for all three of us.
