Vit A, Vit D, EPA/DHA - A question

I'm trying to determine the best way to do this and wondered what you thought about the ratios....

I need to replicate what my parents are taking for the above nutrients per their ND, but do so using better products than he has them taking.

I need to get 4000 IU of Vit D, 820mg EPA, and 1250mg DHA.

In order to get 4000IU of Vit D they'd need to take at least 6ml of the fermented oil from Green Pasture which would give us:

3600IU Vit D (plus an additional 400IU from the Cal/Mag Supp they take)
21000IU Vit A
840mg EPA
450mg DHA

I could switch it to the fermented Skate Liver Oil and the VitA and D would remain the same, but the EPA would be 720mg and the DHA would be 780mg. The problem being the Skate Liver oil only comes in capsules so that'd be 12 caps for 1 dose! Not very economical. I suppose one could always come up with a DHA supplement to make up the difference like the NN one.

Another concern lies with the Vit A. The WAPF mentions a top dose of 20000IU for pregnant/nursing women and even higher for those under stress/illness which would seem to apply in their case (I take 20000IU as a nursing mother w/out qualms).

Any thoughts?

I just got some vitamin D drops from my naturopath so I'm taking a couple drops of those a day and 4 ml of my CLO/BO combo. I'm pregnant and nursing though.

I personally don't believe that such high levels of vitamin A are good for my body, so I don't take mega-doses of cod liver oil. I've found a nice mix of vitamin D supplements and fish and cod liver oils that work for me.

I do take two gel caps a day of Carlson's cod liver oil, which give me 500 IU of vitamin D and 4000 IU vitamin A, and 180 mg EPA/ 240 mg DHA. I also take 4 Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega fish oil a day (1300 EPA, 900 DHA). So six capsules total: a little annoying, but not too bad.

I take vitamin D drops that I got from my doc, about 6000 IU a day. My levels did not rise with less than that.

You could use CLO plus supplemental nutrients as the PP said. NOW makes vitamin A from fish oil softgels. I get the 25,000 IU ones and take them a three times a week, so I get about 10,000 IU a day (I'm another whose not sure huge amounts of vitamin A are a good thing). I believe they also make 10,000 IU ones. And I've used both NOW's vitamin D3 softgels and Bio-D-Mulsion Forte liquid D3 (both containing 2,000 IU of D3). And you can probably find an omega 3 supplement to make up any difference there.

What about those who aren't as concerned about vit A? What do you consider your upper limit?
