I've made a few cloth diapers today and am really getting into sewing againg . I'd love to make my own sling, perhaps something like the Ktan ones, or a mei tei. Does anyone know where to get a pattern, and has anyone done this?

Thanks!

I like Jan Andrea's ring sling instructions, and she has a lot of useful links to other carrier isntructions.

The DIY Scandi is one of the more popular Mei Tai tutorials. I have not tried it yet msyelf.

The Babywearer.com has a sewing and improvisong page with lots of links to various patterns/instructions. They also have a very helfpul do-it-yourself section in their forum, but I think you have to register to see the forums (you don't to see the page I liked to).

Thanks. This one http://www.sleepingbaby.net/jan/Baby/podeagi.html looks practical and easy to sew!

I know that your little one is still a little one (I was in your ddc and december uc thread), and one of my favorite slings for the first 4-5 months or so is the mama-baby sling. It's actually a set of 2 different stretchy ring slings. You can look it up on-line to see what I mean. You wear one on each shoulder so that they cross in front or in back, depending on which way you are wearing the babe. Anyhow, each one is literally just a length of jersey, serged around the edges and attached at the end to two nylon rings. Very, very simple to make. I'm thinking about making myself another set for going out and such as these ones are quite stained at this point.

Hi!

That sounds interesting. I have some shoulder issues so I don't like anything that just goes over one shoulder, but that sounds good.

In the meantime, I have made a narrow podaegi, wide podaegi and a mei tai. The wide podaegi isn't really my thing though.

Posted a pattern

I just posted a tentative pattern for a Baby Ktan on another thread (Baby Ktan Pattern). I love, love, love it! I love wraps (stretchy and woven), but they just took way too much time to wrap. With the Ktan, I put the rings on, place baby in just like a wrap and go. No wrapping and no guesstimating on how much area to leave for the baby.
