All the books sort of recap the previous ones and I went from Dead as a Doornail to Definitely Dead but, Definitely Dead seemed to make a big jump into the future. It was the book where Sookie has to go clean out Hadley's apartment but, the way the story read, it did a lot of recapping about hadley and the queen so I'm wondering if that was part of a previous book or if the author just stuck that story line in?

It irritates the heck out of me that these books aren't numbered or more clear in the order in which they should be read.
I said the same thing. I ended up doing some googling. She wrote a short story called "One Word Answer" which went over the Hadley storyline. Supposedly you don't have to read it but I did and it made much more sense. Here is the link to read the short story.

Hope it works (I'm at work and can't test it) but I think thats the link I used for when I read it.

And for the LDS/Mormon undertones....I got them and for whats it worth I was born and raised in the LDS church till I was 19/20 years old. But anways...

that drove me crazy too...and the jump was not consistent with teh other books (one of the things that annoyed me was that she was always explaining what happened in the earlier books). i mean, if you are going to read a series, dont start at book no. 6....and i dont think its nice of an author to make those of us who start at book no. 1 hear the same recaps OVER AND OVER AND OVER. i find the books fun...but that is one annoyance i have.

off to read that link. thanks!
